I'm so glad that Tanzania is becoming an increasingly popular destination, and more people can see the beauty of African nature. For me, this is one of the reasons to choose it as a holiday destination – great service and five-star hotels. In my selection, I have five best options with a private pool. It might seem like, why have a private one if there is a shared pool! Oh, you just haven't tried it yet. Now I'll tell you why to choose them! Melia is my special love in the world of hotels. I really like their style and approach to service. Melia Zanzibar is a fantastic green area and, by the way, it is located next to the Kiwengwa reserve, which we are planning to visit next time! The feeling I get when looking at the photos is peace. The white and beige interiors, the four-poster bed, the magnificent view of the sea from the balcony, the freestanding bathtub, the swings on the porch – all of this is about a serene holiday for me. And that's exactly what I want during a vacation!
What I appreciate about private pools is the seclusion. They will be available in "Level" category villas, which come with one, two, or three bedrooms. I think it's perfect for a honeymoon (I would choose a one-bedroom villa), or for a family vacation. I know people who vacation this way with friends, but that option is not quite comfortable for me.
It is precisely for the seclusion that I love private pools: if it’s a romantic getaway with my husband, we can swim together or alone, enjoying the nature around us, ourselves, and each other. If it’s a vacation with kids, one shouldn’t expect a calm rest, but at least I will be at ease knowing they are busy in the water, especially since they swim well already. During that time, I can relax in the villa and read a book. And the size of the pool here is very large for a villa!
I really liked the hotel. I am seriously thinking about going back to Tanzania for the next summer vacation, this time with the kids – they have not been here yet. In that case, we would book a villa, which has a kitchen and a terrace with a sea view. As for the amenities, there is a large shared pool, breakfast is served in a buffet format in the mornings, and five restaurants are open. So many! I don't even know if we will have time to visit them all. I liked that there is a sauna here, as well as a fitness center and a tennis court. Maybe it's time to learn tennis already!
According to the reviews, everything here is absolutely wonderful! Guests can look forward to many entertainment options and surprises, the staff strives to exceed expectations and assist with any questions. The territory, as well as the rooms and villas, are beautifully decorated! A very nice combination of natural style, authenticity, and comfort. And the hotel is clean!
Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

Oh, this hotel stands out significantly against others! It is located not on the island of Zanzibar, where people go for perfect beaches, but on the mainland, right in the Serengeti National Park. It is famous for its rich wildlife. I really love watching animals in their natural habitat, not in a zoo, but in nature. I would definitely like to take the kids here. How great that there are comfortable hotels even in such places!
There are private pools in the "Luxury" category rooms with a terrace and a view, as well as in 1-2 bedroom villas or the presidential suite with three bedrooms. However, the pools here are significantly smaller than in the previous hotel. You can't really swim much, they are more like a bathing pond. But how nice it is to sit there and look at the vast savannah below! You can often see elephants or antelopes. I could definitely spend a few hours like this. Don't forget to bring binoculars. And most importantly – don't get sunburned!
Location is a huge plus of this hotel. I can only imagine what lush nature can be seen from the window here! No construction interferes; only a panorama is in front of my eyes. At the same time, it is very comfortable and modern here: there is a spa and an infinity pool with a view of the savannah. I think that on particularly lucky days, you might see wild animals right from the water!🤩
When I visit some exotic places, it is important for me that the hotel retains the uniqueness of the country. It happened here as well: the rooms are decorated in African style, and the restaurant serves local cuisine, featuring performances of Maasai folk dances.
Here, safaris and guided tours are organized in Serengeti Park. I definitely won’t miss that!
I forgot to mention that the hotel operates on an "all-inclusive" basis, and it's not surprising since there are no cafes or restaurants nearby! You won't be able to go anywhere. I don't think I could stay here for long despite the magnificent view — the monotony becomes boring. But I think it would be optimal for my family to spend 3-4 days in this exclusive place.

I will return to the island of Zanzibar. I found another amazing option for vacation! The architecture of the resort complex with its white domes reminded me of Moorish or Middle Eastern style. The vaulted ceilings and ornaments on the textiles also reflect the Eastern colorfulness. I like this! The hotel consists of luxurious villas, many of which have their own pool.
The hotel has a large shared pool, and each villa has its own! At first, I was baffled by the names of the villas: with a pool, with a sea view, but then I understood that there is a small, round plunge pool in each one. As with the previous option, you can't really swim here, but I liked that the pools are located in the shade of the trees. It's much more comfortable and safer to relax this way, especially for children – I don't always manage to ensure that they use sunscreen, and I would prefer not to treat burns from the African sun. So swimming in the shade is perfect!
There are so many amenities and entertainments here that you can comfortably spend a couple of weeks without any unnecessary movements! Guests can take advantage of the personal butler service. This truly elevates the level of comfort several times! It's especially nice to relax on the private beach. In general, in such resorts, you feel as if this is your territory and there are no strangers around.
My family would definitely enjoy staying in this hotel because there is a bike rental and all the conditions for active recreation: diving and snorkeling. I can only imagine how beautiful the underwater world is here!
I am impressed by the beautiful villas, so stylish and comfortable. They say that the food here is incredibly delicious and especially that the staff is very polite. I think this is one of those resorts where you choose your next destination more carefully afterward - you don’t want to lower the bar. And it seems that what could be even higher and better? The white beach at this hotel can rival the Maldives or the Caribbean, and the level of service is exceptional.

This hotel is the embodiment of seclusion. What a private paradise! Zanzi Resort is a wonderful garden where you are alone with nature and your loved ones. The perfect place to restore your strength and nerves, for complete tranquility and peace. It's also very beautifully decorated, and I loved the abundance of details: straw and wooden decor, colorful lamps, ornaments, and textiles. Most villas accommodate 4 adults, but I think the place is better suited for a romantic getaway for two.
Villas in the hotel are the embodiment of privacy. I liked that all the pools located in the villas with ocean views are completely secluded and not accessible to prying eyes. This means you can swim in any outfit (or without one 🙈), and it is also suitable for those who wear a hijab. Essentially, here I can feel very comfortable like at home. For example, I can take a bath right by the window and not worry about someone seeing me. The pool is small, but you can easily do 5-10 laps in it.
In all five-star hotels, the amenities are roughly the same. I don't see the point in mentioning air conditioning or a television – these are standard in all. However, what I found unusual here is a special assistant who will take care of organizing active leisure. For example, they can help with excursions or diving. And what a wonderful spa center with a panoramic view of the ocean. There is also a green garden with animals, a restaurant on the pier and on the beach. And you can even order a romantic dinner, with vegetables and herbs grown right on the hotel's eco-plantation!
Everything at this resort is thought out down to the smallest details. What particularly delighted me was the monkeys living on the premises, eating in the trees right in front of the villa! You can also go birdwatching right on the property, which has recently become my new hobby! I was surprised when I read in the reviews that the staff knows and remembers the preferences of each guest. They especially note and appreciate those who return to them. It would seem that such an attitude should be present in any five-star hotel, but in reality, I don't encounter it very often.
Choosing among five perfect options is incredibly difficult. Four of them are located on the heavenly Zanzibar, an island of white sands and endless beaches, and only one is in Serengeti National Park. I would probably choose Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti for my future trip with the whole family, because we have already been to Zanzibar, and I would really like to take the kids on a safari. But this is only an option for 3-4 days! I would plan to spend the remaining days by the sea. And I think that Melia Zanzibar would suit us then. I noticed this hotel because it has the largest private pools!

It so happened that most of the hotels I selected are located on the island of Zanzibar. It's no wonder, as this is one of the most popular and beautiful parts of the country. This is where The Residence Zanzibar is also located. This option captivated me with its own pristine white beach!😍 In my opinion, it's just the perfect place for a peaceful family vacation.
I promised to tell about the difference. I love pools, for example, infinity ones with a beautiful view or natural ones with seawater. But there is one catch – it's the other hotel guests. And they have as much right as you to swim there. They also take photos and swim with children. And children splash and frolic! In general, when I first stayed at a villa with a private pool, I realized: yes, the pool is small, but it is specifically for our family. The feelings are indescribable!
At The Residence Zanzibar, each villa has its own pool. It’s small, and you won’t be setting Olympic records or conducting swim training in it. But I remember how I started my day when I would step out in a robe, take it off, and jump into the water – it’s magical. And what I also liked is that the pools are located in the shade of the trees.
Of course, the hotel has a shared pool, the one that is suitable for swimming training. I will definitely go there too, but the feelings will be different.
Although I have stayed in a large number of places, and my requirements have grown along with my experience, I see that there are many different amenities here. There are two restaurants and a bar, a garden, a coffee maker in the villas, an American breakfast, and butler services are available. In the evening, I would go to the spa or wellness center to relax and order some pleasant body treatments. My husband will surely be interested in visiting the Jozani Forest Reserve or going on a dolphin safari. I wouldn't refuse that either.
The hotel is simply magnificent. The view of the ocean from here is stunning! And it’s also the perfect place to admire the sunset. I read all the reviews and see that guests are thrilled too. The only downside I found is the slow WI-FI. It even sometimes just disconnected. Well, even though I always try to stay connected, I know that a small digital detox will do us good.
