New Year's dinner is something! Such luxury we didn't even expect. Grilled lobsters, huge langoustines, a variety of seafood and an abundance of meat dishes, including lamb, beef, all very delicious and simply in unlimited quantities. Sauces complemented the taste of meat and seafood. Prosecco was super! Strong alcohol was also of good quality, the men were satisfied. Fruits and desserts were magical! And the festive parade of chefs and waiters was spectacular, it was fun! In general, this feast will be remembered for a long time!👍 I filmed the animation, but the bar didn't interest me much, but I know for sure that the alcohol was all decent. In this hotel, as we understood, there is its own theatrical troupe, the same guys danced different types of dances every day: Indian, African, European, even something like a musical was there. Of course, it was essentially amateur, but we watched. It was amusing, they tried very hard. We really liked the food. The selection was always good. Yes, a lot of curry, we didn't take that. There was always fish, every day mahi-mahi (we don't know what kind of fish this is), it's tasty but a bit salty, and a couple of times there was red salmon, a couple of times grilled tuna. There was always meat, beef, often lamb, of course chicken. Grilled vegetables. Peeled shrimp were very tasty, both stewed and in salad. Cheeses, cold cuts, salads in assortment. And amazing pizza, simply fabulous. Several types of pasta with sauces. Vegetarian table. Desserts were decent, fruits. Ice cream at lunch and dinner in several varieties. Breakfast was also diverse, there was oatmeal porridge, next to it was sugar with cinnamon, tasty. We were very pleased with the food. Everyone - both adults and children were very satisfied.
Was the prosecco only at the banquet?
No, they poured in the bar.
I only drink it, and if it's always available with all-inclusive, that's wonderful 🔥🔥🔥
Prosecco is wonderful.
Well, then the rest is definitely a success 😁
This is not prosecco. It is Spanish semi-dry sparkling wine. Yes, it is pretty good, but it has nothing to do with prosecco.
I don't argue. It may be so. We ordered prosecco, and what they brought us was quite satisfactory. It tasted dry, absolutely no sweetness. And the effect is great 👌
Do you know what prosecco is?)
I know. But I am not a sommelier.
Exclusively Italian sparkling white wine made from a single variety of grapes)

The only white sparkling wine in the hotel. I'm not much of an expert on it, but I liked it, and so did my wife. I couldn't find it in Russian online stores.
Could you please tell me if the hotel is large, how many people are there on average, and are there enough sun loungers?
The hotel is quite large. There were a lot of people. We were even amazed on the first day; we had never seen so many people in the pool. But then it turned out that one pool was undergoing sanitation, and everyone was gathering in the other one where the bar is. Later, when it opened, the crowd dispersed, and apparently, some left; after Christmas, many foreigners left. There are plenty of sun loungers, but you need to secure them by the pools. However, you can always find a sun lounger on the sand. If there aren’t enough, you can ask the beach boy, and he will bring one.
We stayed at RIU from December 15 to December 25. The food was excellent, although we are very picky! We had everything included. Yes, there are spicy dishes, but there are also items that are not heavily seasoned. You definitely won't go hungry. I won't say that every day the buffet is entirely different, but they try to update it. I really don't understand why they say that there is no swimming at the hotel) Our tour operator told us the same. In the end - we hardly left the ocean! Even our 4-year-old daughter constantly asked to go from the pool to the ocean. (Although last year in Cuba she almost didn't swim) Yes, it's clear that we shouldn't make long swims, but jumping in the waves is such a pleasure. 😍 We once went to the lagoon - yes, it's a bit calmer there, but that's what makes it fun, to swim in waves like those at the hotel. That's why we didn't go to the lagoon again. And the main plus - the water is incredibly warm in Sri Lanka 🤗 Last year in Cuba, it was definitely colder in December.

The food was fine for us) Of course, there is a specificity of the country with Indian cuisine, but there are also always several types of grilled fish, a salad bar, baked meat, and a couple of times boiled shrimp without sauce just sitting there. The Italian restaurant was really delicious, we barely rolled out of there)) Plus, the main advantage of Ai is that all drinks are included, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic, and there is an opportunity to have a snack even at night before the excursion; here is an example of a plate from the buffet, I am attaching a photo.
We are currently in this hotel. The hotel is wonderful, the service, the cuisine, the bars, the restaurants are all excellent. The food is great and diverse, there is both spicy food (and it is written there) and non-spicy food, it depends on your choice. As for the ocean, if people go to swim in deep water while clearly seeing the red flag and knowing what kind of ocean it is, then there is nothing surprising about them being swept away. The hotel is beautiful, the country is interesting, there is much to see, and the choice is individual. Some admire it, others criticize it. Sri Lanka pleasantly surprised us; there is a lot to see here, and we have not regretted for a second that we came here. We have been to Cuba twice; Cuba is also beautiful, but you must understand that these are completely different countries. The ocean in Cuba will leave you indifferent, it is hard to find a better ocean, but there are specific features of rest in Cuba, and if you are ready for that, you will not be disappointed.
How do you like the evening animation at the hotel? Is there a program for the week? Maybe you have seen the daytime activities program somewhere, I would be grateful if you could send a photo.
Every evening there are musical concerts, we enjoy it, and there are entertainment and games by the pool during the day.
We had a wonderful time at Riu. All impressions are positive. By the way, we really swam in the ocean near the hotel. Of course, it’s not possible to swim peacefully, but you can definitely ride the waves with joy. Now I want to go to Cuba 🌝 After all, reviews are a subjective thing. We vacationed from the 28th to the 6th of January. Everything was good. The food was fine, the ocean was fine, just be careful. We didn't find sand in the shrimp, where the spicy food is always labeled as spicy. There is a sufficient selection.

Top 176 tips for your stay at Riu Sri Lanka All Inclusive
And if someone has a video of the beach with waves by the hotel? We don't drink alcohol, acquaintances stayed at this hotel - they liked everything :)

Here are such waves here.
These are not waves at all 😂, I was there in November, that was something else. The locals said that in January and February the waves are very small. Swimming is pure pleasure. They were about this size in the lagoon, I swam a lot there. But near the hotel, there were really serious ones, even sitting on the balcony in the evening, there was such a roar, it could be heard over the music.
About the noise 100%. On the first day, while sitting at dinner in the restaurant, I thought it was thunder.)
Similarly
Don't worry. Everything is fine. Just be careful. We swam near the hotel every day with two kids.
What to keep a school-age child occupied in the hotel? Besides food and waves) We are flying next week, maybe someone is flying with children of elementary school age, let me know.
There are various board games in the lobby, in case you find it interesting :)
There is a children's water park.
If it's not too much trouble, please send me the table with sauces next to the chopped vegetables in the main restaurant. We have already flown away; I wanted to check the name and make it at home. I liked it so much 😁

Here it is
Hello! Are there any time restrictions for swimming in the pool? For example, is it allowed at night?
We didn't swim, but I think I saw some kids swimming around 8 PM for sure.
The pools close at 8:00 PM.
Could you please tell me if there is pork for lunch/dinner here?
Yes. There is a Pork station there.
There is even for breakfast.
Hello everyone! Pancakes have only been seen at dinner ) Pork is available in any variation.
It's funny, but it seems like there are no decent rooms in Rio 😂 Some sector's windows face the stage and the music plays very loud in the evenings, in some rooms people are freezing, and the aromas from the kitchen are also coming in 😂😂😂
Of course there are. In all Superior category rooms, peace, calmness, and divine grace.
We had an ideal one)
I'm sorry, but I can only provide translations for provided text. Please provide the text you would like translated.
3003
What is the room category?
So, stop. 3030. Oh my, I forgot 🤦♀ In general, the right wing (facing the ocean), the end. Ocean view. The temperature in the room was comfortable for us - 22-23 °C. And it smelled very pleasant.
This is exactly a Superior room.
We have a nice room but it is on the first floor. 0043. The only thing is that housekeeping includes air conditioning, it is very cold.
N5008. Side view of the sea. Cool view, sunny side, everything dries quickly. Yes, in the evening until 11 PM, music can be heard from below, even with the balcony closed. But it didn't bother us at all.
The question is certainly unexpected, but still. Please let me know if anyone knows what sauce is next to the thinly sliced yellow vegetables. There are different sauces, mayonnaises, and a yellow sauce there, which tastes like it's based on balsamic vinegar, but what else is in it? The texture is oily... I liked it a lot.
It looks like a mix of oil, mustard, and honey. And maybe lemon juice. At least that's how it seemed to me.
Can you rent skis here?
We did not see the rental.
I'm interested in this question. What is the color principle for bracelets in Rio? Ours are orange, the kids' are blue, and there are many other colors, but it's not clear what all these colors are for? Is it by nationality or something?😜

I don't know for sure, I think it's related to the loyalty program. In the Ceylon restaurant, we always had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there, I saw tables with blue stickers. And the waiters brought plates with fruits, including mangoes, beautifully sliced and arranged. However, I didn't pay attention to the color of the bracelets.
These tables have Rui Diamond stickers. I understand that this is a privilege for frequent visitors to the Riu chain.
I just looked in the app, there are several levels of privileges: classic, Gold, Diamond. Apparently, they are distinguished by the colors of the bracelets.
Well, we often visit, but I have never seen anything like this and I haven't seen the stickers either.😳😜
The loyalty program works, I felt it today upon check-in. A room with a landscape view was booked, and they gave one with an ocean view.
We didn't have much luck, even though I wrote everywhere in the requests for a high floor, they gave us 3. I would have preferred 5 of course.
What is your status in the program?
Classic
What’s the deal then that they gave a good room, I just need 16 more days of vacation to reach Gold (I was previously for a week at Riu in the Dominican Republic, Maldives).
To make this work, you must have visited these hotels within 12 months. Please read the terms.
Guests of the VIP rooms had golden bracelets, Europeans also had a different color.
And we have red 🤣
If I remember correctly, you need to be registered in the Riu Class, first a red bracelet - after 30 nights in the Riu hotels, a gold one, etc. The color of the bracelet indicates possible bonuses - like something can be paid with points, discount in the spa, etc. And if you register in advance at the hotel yourself, then you don't have to wait for your room - you arrive and immediately go to the lady at the "Riu Class guests only" sign. There, you get priority service without queues or waiting. I did just that, and when we arrived at the hotel on the regular transfer from the tour operator, we were the only ones who were checked in immediately. The others waited until 2 PM... We were given a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the garden (both the room and the view were excellent).
"Registered in the Rio class" does this refer to their loyalty program? In the app? Have you been to Rio before?
I registered at home through the website on the computer. I only downloaded the app after registration - to book for the a-la-carte restaurants (by the way, we were easily able to book for all of them - in some even twice). No, we had not been to Riu before this.
Hello. Could you please tell me if there is children's animation in the hotel? Are beach towels provided? What type of sockets are there, do I need an adapter? What excursions are available and what are their prices?
The children's animation is also interesting. Is there a children's room? There are towels, and the sockets are normal. We don't know about excursions yet, we just arrived yesterday.
Yes. Where is the children's pool? But they only speak English.
Good evening! Who was here on March 8th, can you tell me how March 8th went at the hotel? Were there any surprises for women?
Good evening! 😁Unfortunately, there were no surprises from the hotel, the husbands themselves searched for flowers and congratulated, arranging a festive dinner by the shore. 😁🥂🍾
Could you please tell me if there is a compliment from the hotel for my husband's birthday during our stay? Do you congratulate in any way?

Here it is, plus a bottle of champagne. And in the restaurant, the waiters came out with a cake and sang "Happy Birthday" 😄
Funny)))) So, did you personally inform about the birthday or does the hotel track this itself?
In the restaurant, I told the waiter, but as I understood it, everything is already written down, but I would advise reminding them just in case.
Upon check-in, I was reminded about my husband's birthday)) They gave me a card and said to give it to the restaurant manager on the birthday. They seated us at a separate table with flowers, brought a cake (like Prague) with candles. Also, they decorated the room and brought a bottle of sparkling wine (which came in handy during the full moon😆).
Guys, has anyone been here with children and knows if they will provide an extra bed for a 4-year-old? And how much does it cost?
Important: in hotels in Sri Lanka, the provision of extra sleeping places for children up to 5 years old inclusive is not standard. If the accommodation with a child under 5 years old does not explicitly state an extra bed (EXB, EXTRA BED, etc.), then an extra bed for the child will not be provided, and the child will sleep in the bed with the parents.
We were with a 5-year-old child. In our room, there was a sofa that could be unfolded. It seemed to be a standard room, but not exactly) It was made up for us. When booking, we specified 2 adults and a 5-year-old child.
Yes, there are usually sofas in Rio, regarding the unfoldable ones, I haven't tried them.
We had a sofa.
Sofa in Superior category rooms
An extra bed has been brought to us.
Good afternoon) Who is currently resting in the hotel, is it cold in your rooms too?) 19.5 - maximum 22 degrees?
Well, in general, 19-20 degrees is the most optimal temperature for sleep. 👍
Aha, under the blanket 👌
Yes, in the rooms with a view of the surroundings it is very cold, they face north and the sun hardly gets in. We suffered for 10 days, and we also had two children with us. We only slept under blankets. The air conditioner only works for cooling; if you turn it off and open the balcony, it becomes a little warmer, but very humid, all glass surfaces fog up, even the phone screen 🤣. Engineers came three times, but they couldn't do anything about the climate control.. We were not moved to another room 😥... This, by the way, is the only negative point during our entire stay at this hotel, but it's a very significant point. I think in the view rooms the sun warms the room nicely...
We had a room with an ocean view. And after lunch, the sun shines directly into the room. Our clothes dried out and it was comfortable in the room. We never turned off the air conditioning. But we love to sleep in the cool.
Is it far from the hotel to the beach?

This is the view from the 4th floor balcony. Between the pools, there is a descent to the beach, where the sandy area begins. There are many sun loungers, and security is present to ensure that no one unauthorized enters. This area is fenced off, and further out is the exit to the beach to the ocean.
How long does it take to walk/drive to the right lagoon from the hotel?
It takes about 10 minutes to walk at a leisurely pace.
By the beach, right?
It takes about 5-7 minutes by tuk-tuk to reach the left lagoon, or a brisk 35-37 minute walk on the sand.
Good morning, could you tell me which rooms are the best or are they all the same?

This is the view from the 5th floor room, lateral sea view.
I don't like such bare concrete hotels, but there is no choice((
The ocean is dominating, they didn't even pay attention to the buildings) and usually, no one sits in the rooms or on the balconies.
What foreign alcohol is offered in the hotel?
Spanish wine I know.) Local beer, but tasty and not watered down. Local rum it seems, but I might be mistaken.
If there is anyone in the hotel right now in a room with a side sea view, please send a video.

Here is the view
Good afternoon. Could you please tell me if there is beach volleyball there?

yes
Hello everyone! I have a question, if we arrive at the hotel early in the morning, I already understand that we will have to wait for the room. But will we be allowed to have breakfast? Or will they not feed us until we check in? We have all-inclusive. Thank you!
Hello, we were given bracelets, and we ate and explored the hotel until our room was ready.
Breakfast until 10:00. If you are given a bracelet by that time, you will be allowed in. In any case, snack places are open 24 hours a day, where you can eat between breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Are there sand fleas on the beach in front of the hotel?🙄
We did not encounter any fleas or gnats. Only mosquitoes bit my son a little, once and that’s it.
Oh, is it possible to ask a really silly question? Can someone please answer, and don't laugh, please, it's my first time flying abroad 🙈. Is there a mini bar in the Riu hotel room? Is it paid? And one more question: I have all-inclusive, can I drink at the bar that is by the pool? Basically, I'm interested in what is included in all-inclusive? Please tell me 😭
Good afternoon. There is a mini bar, it only contains soft drinks, cola, Fanta. It is restocked every two days. You can drink anything you want wherever it's convenient. It's all-inclusive after all.
Hello. In fact, there are hotels where everything is included, but some items at the bars are available for an extra charge (usually there is a bar menu posted at the bar indicating what is free and what is paid and for how much). In Riu, everything is free; you can eat and drink anywhere and anything.
At Riu, in the bar (which is not in the fridge), you can drink everything, and it's all free. I didn't see any price list hanging there.
Can you tell me what toiletries are available in the room?
In the shower, there is shower gel, which is also shampoo. It's like 2-in-1. They also bring separate shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. There was also soap, just regular. There were no cotton swabs or pads.
Can you tell me if there is a deposit upon check-in at the Riu hotel?
No, right now here, we haven't taken anything, but we have bought a tour.
Is there Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel?
On the whole.
Can you tell me if there are any smoking restrictions on the hotel premises?
You can smoke in designated areas and in the open-air amphitheater. Near the stage, bar, you cannot. By the pools, either. On the balconies, you can, an ashtray is provided.
We do not have an ashtray on the balcony and it says that smoking is not allowed.
Could you tell me where to find the night club in the hotel?😅
Next to the stage and very close to the lounge, where food is served from 10:00 PM. If you face the stage, go right, past the bar.
Is there an iron in the room?
No.
We asked at the reception, they brought it to us and didn’t take it back. The board was also there.
Is there a night dinner at the hotel?🙈
Nearby the nightclub — a bar and a snack bar. Open until 12:00.
Snack bar behind the disco club until 7:00 AM.
Near the nightclub, there is a snack bar open from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, where you can find sandwiches, hot dogs, cookies, coffee, tea, and a few fruits.
Good afternoon, everyone! Could you please tell me if the air conditioners in the restaurants are working? Do I need suitable clothing so I don't get cold?
They work. But not exactly that it's very cold.
Maybe someone has seen, is there a hookah here?
Not seen
No, there is none.
Good afternoon! Please let me know if adapters for plugs are needed in the rooms of this hotel?
Good afternoon! No, we do not need them.

Take nothing.
Good afternoon! Is there Wi-Fi in the hotel?
Good afternoon. Yes, there is. A good stable signal.
If you plan to work, then it's not great. If not, then it's excellent for a hotel.
Hello! Could you please tell me if there is a hairdryer in the hotel rooms? Is it weak? Or can I dry my hair? I don't want to carry a hairdryer 😫 And also - do I need adapters in the room?
Hello. The hairdryer is normal. If you want to charge your phone or other gadgets properly, be sure to bring them. In our room, you could connect without an adapter, but all the outlets were so used that they hardly charged at all. The outlet near the kettle was somewhat okay. And there is an outlet in the bathroom for 230 and 115 volts. Our hairdryer didn't even turn on at 230. We didn't try 115😂
Good evening. Could you please tell me if a shirt is mandatory for men at the A La Carte dress code, or is a polo t-shirt acceptable?
Polo
Hello everyone! Can you tell me if the hotel provides slippers and bathrobes, or should I bring my own?
Hello) There was nothing like that. There are shampoos and body lotions available.
Slippers can be requested at the reception, they will bring them. There are no bathrobes.
Does anyone know what champagne they serve here? The only one that didn’t give me a headache😁

Here is such
Made in Spain
Good morning everyone🤗 Please tell me, are the hairdryers in the rooms good here? I really don't want to carry extra weight....
Yes, excellent hairdryers.
There are no mosquitoes here, no need for the plates?
In the room on the 3rd floor, there were no mosquitoes, only in the lobby in the evening.
Hello 👋👋👋, could you please tell me if there is a toothbrush and toothpaste in the room?
No. Gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap. No discs, swabs, caps, or toothpaste.
We had toothbrushes and toothpaste and also a shaving kit)
Wow, it's really luxurious. They only gave me slippers upon request 😂

We had them without request)) I didn't take a photo, and we didn't use them) We had our own. In the photo, the packaging of the shaving set is slightly visible. The toothbrushes with toothpaste were in the same kind of boxes.
Where do they give out towels and at what time?
By the pool
From very early to very late, and they change all the time, well done. I came at 7:40 once, it was already open and they gave me a towel.
Just arrived at the hotel. Could you please tell me where to leave our things while the room is not ready so we can go for a walk by the ocean? And how much is it customary to give as a tip when our things are taken?
We carried them ourselves, there's an elevator, so you don't have to exert yourself too much. And all the suitcases are by the entrance, everything is okay.
You leave your luggage right in the lobby. Keep valuables with you in your backpack. Tips are the same as everywhere, $1-2 as desired and affordable. I saw someone leave 100 rupees as well.
Hello everyone, please let me know if it's necessary to bring plug adapters with me?
No. The Euro plug 🔌 is perfect for hotel sockets.
Guys! Help! If you're at the hotel, check at the reception about the robes and slippers! Are they provided or not?
Bathrobes are not provided, slippers are provided, ask to bring slippers immediately upon check-in.
Bathrobes even upon request - no?
Even upon request. Maybe there are some in the suites, but in standard rooms with any view (ocean or non-ocean) - they do not provide. I asked. They only brought slippers))
Good morning! Can I have a description (photo) of the lunch box in the hotel?)) Is it worth taking it at all?😄
A 0.5L bottle of water, a pack of cookies, another small pack of crackers, a banana, a mandarin. Order at the reception in the evening, pick it up in the morning, they ask what time you need it. I was leaving at 4 a.m., everything was ready.
Good afternoon. Who went on excursions - how did you order the lunch box at the hotel? At the reception? In the evening? And when and where to pick it up?
Good morning! Yes, please come to the reception in the evening and request a lunch box, they will ask for your room number, the quantity, and by what time you would like it prepared. The contents include: cookies, cheese crackers, a mandarin, a banana, and 0.5 liters of water.
Is there something more fun in the hotel in the evening after the songs (live music)?
No, that's all. The animation here is mediocre. But if something interesting comes up, you'll share it)
And the club?
He only works three days a week.
Guys, who is here now, a huge request to provide feedback on the waves, how big are they? We are going with 5 children, this is very important for us. And what about the lagoon, is this information still relevant?
Children can be different. Mine (8 and 12 years old) swam with the adults right by the hotel and enjoyed the waves, but they swim very confidently, and that's when the flag is red-yellow. When the flag is red, it's not safe to enter the ocean at all. In general, the sea near the hotel is not calm; there are always waves, and even in the lagoon, it’s not calm by the way... So considering other options wouldn't hurt.
An important question, is there volleyball in the hotel? I didn't see it mentioned in any review.
Yes. And it is even included in the daily program of animators, around 11 am...
Yes, they play often + animators call him during the day.
Good day! Please let me know, we are choosing between Riu and Aralia, the travel agent said that Riu does not have sunbeds on the beach, the question is how do you swim with children? How far are the sunbeds? Maybe there are photos.
I was there and there. The sun loungers are located on the fenced territory of the hotel. There are none right by the shore. You lie on the territory on a sun lounger, and when you want to swim, you go to the ocean.
What strong pure alcohol do they offer here?
Rum, arrack, whiskey, gin, brandy - all local, Eristoff vodka
Are towels issued by cards?
Yes, by cards, they are very thin (cards).
Is the shampoo and shower gel normal? Or is it better to bring my own? ☝️

Everything is individual. I'm more or less okay, we are here for a week, so it doesn’t matter. This one is locally made.
Is there shower gel?
Gel in the dispenser by the shower: shampoo and 2-in-1 shower gel
Hello. Please tell me, upon arrival, can I put my things somewhere and go swimming and sunbathing while my room is being prepared?
Yes, there are also showers near the reception.
Sure. There should be a place to store belongings at the reception. Usually, they put on a bracelet, you can have something to eat, drink on the go, swim while the room is getting ready. In any case, this is how it is everywhere in the Riu chain. You need to ask at the reception.
Good day!) Could you please tell me if it's possible not to swim at all in the ocean with a 5-year-old child? Has anyone traveled with children? I really want to stay at this hotel, but I'm a bit worried about the wave situation...
The ocean with big waves, you won't be able to swim with a child at the hotel 100%, maybe you can in the lagoon? We haven't been there yet.

Everything will be fine. There are waves. One 5-year-old child cannot be precise, but if you love jumping on the waves, you will have fun. You can see in the video, there are kids aged 5-6 years.
Please explain what "buoys" are on children?
I swim in open water, this is a safety buoy, a very convenient thing, Wildberries, the price is about a thousand. I recommend it. If anything, the buoy is visible from afar, if a child decides to drown - we will save them 🤣. You can also hang on it and rest.
Good evening, please advise whether it is worth taking a sea view or a partial one? Or would a standard view be enough? And where does it overlook?

We took this one, with a "view of the area"... of the Indian Ocean - we are satisfied, but sometimes the sound of the waves makes it hard to fall asleep...
Good afternoon! Could you please tell me if the internet is good in the rooms here?
Everything works perfectly, yes.

Such a thing is in our room, probably in every room too.
This is an access point, there is no technical necessity to install them in every room. We don't have it in the room, but the WiFi coverage in the hotel is decent. Not perfect, but a solid four out of five.
Good afternoon, could you please tell me if there is adult animation or disco in this hotel?
Aqua aerobics and running on a long tourist mat in the aquarium (sorry, in the pool) - should it be considered adult animation?)
There is a night club.
The club only operates, they say, not every day.
Is there an iron here?
There is no iron in the room, but we were told that it can be taken at the reception. We didn't need it.
Is there a hairdryer in the room?
Yes
Friends, is there a fruit market somewhere near the hotel? I've never eaten durian.
There are fruit stalls, but you won't be allowed into the hotel with it, durian is prohibited.
By the way, regarding life outside the hotel, I'm curious about what shops are there, what they sell. Is there anywhere to buy spices, tea, cosmetics?
There is almost nothing nearby; when you exit the hotel, you should go left for about 10-15 minutes, and you will find fruit shops (bananas, pineapples). There is also an alcohol store, but it's more expensive than in duty-free. Further along, there is a small mini-market.
Is there an iron in the room?
There isn't any in the room. You can ask at the reception.
Hello! Could you please tell me if the hotel has branded beach bags? Like cloth ones, free of charge, so I don't have to carry my own...
Unfortunately no
Is there an iron in the room? Or upon request?
He is terrible there - I burned a silk dress. Little one without steam.
We initially had an old iron. We requested +$5 and a new iron in the room.
Silly question, probably, but are there straws for cocktails here?)) Because in Mauritius at Riu there weren't any, like, it's the hotel's concept, which is strange. Drinking mojito without straws is, well, not great 😒
They didn't serve at the pool bar, but they were at the lobby bar.
Thank you, but at least is there anywhere to get them. I wanted to take them with me)
Well, at least in April, they were given to us without any problems.
Are there any snacks available besides breakfast/lunch/dinner?
The breakfasts/lunches/dinners there are such that snacks are not needed…. We didn’t even ask if there was anything…. But it seems that during the meeting they mentioned that there’s something in some bar…
Is there a midnight snack? 😁
Yes, there is food around the clock 😂 After lunch, the outdoor snack bar definitely opens. And there is a nighttime snack bar in the hotel itself. It's really hard to get hungry there.
Is there a fish market near the hotel or at a short distance? I really want some seafood, of course)
No
Do we need to bring wine from duty free or is what is included here of good quality, not like the 2-euro tetra packs from Spain?
There is wine in the glass and sparkling wine, also Spanish, in the glass.
Is there anything for a three-year-old to eat here? I mean, the food shouldn't be too spicy.
Yes, it's possible. There are many children of all ages.
Question) My older child can't always get up to eat in the morning, can I take something from the cafeteria and bring it to the room?
Sure, I saw that a man was even wrapped in foil because it was raining. So don't worry - they will gladly help too)
Are there monkeys on the hotel grounds? ☺️
Yes))))) but they are seen by those who have rooms in a certain place))
Seriously?
Absolutely. We had a room with a view of the local "garden-patch." Sometimes there were monkeys in the trees.
Are there any monitor lizards on the premises? I really dream of meeting one.
We have not met yet. Chipmunks are running around the area.

There is, often came (not large). From the adult pool, we often saw them)) we took both video and photos. They are called Sri Lankan iguana. And we personally met a Monitor in the lagoon.
Good afternoon. Could you please tell me if there are any crawling creatures (cockroaches, lizards, or other pests) in the hotel rooms?
No. Absolutely. And the cleaning is excellent.
Hello everyone! A question for the hotel guests - what fruits and seafood are being served in the dining hall right now?)
From fruits, there are watermelons, papayas, bananas, pineapples, cherimoya, passion fruit, starfruit. As for seafood, there was fish and squid. But we just arrived yesterday evening.
Shrimp, I'm already feeling nauseous from them 🤣 Make a reservation at the Asian restaurant, they are really tasty and crunchy, we've been there twice.
Please let me know if it's necessary to wear aqua shoes when swimming in the lagoon and walking on the beach here?
No
Do you have adapters for phones here, please?
In the room, there are no sockets; they work and charge without them as long as the key is in the room.
How are the outlets here?
Sockets work like that. Without handles in the third hole and so on.
Good afternoon, could you please tell me if water shoes are needed for swimming in the ocean at the hotel?) There were plenty of sea urchins in Zanzibar.
There is no one in the water, neither at the hotel nor in the lagoon, only sand)
Good afternoon. We're arriving here in November, hoping there won't be any rain 😀 A couple of questions: Are there any issues with the sockets? How's the animation? How far is it to the turtles for swimming? And has anyone gone independently to ride elephants?
Good afternoon! We will also be there in November 🤝 According to the reviews, the outlets are standard, and the entertainment is average. As for excursions, we will go through Timur (the guide from the beach). By the way, we also want to see the elephants. Turtles and fish are one thing. But to feed the elephants by hand and take pictures, we really want to do that!
Good evening) Can you walk barefoot on the hotel beach, there are no fleas?
On the beach, I haven't been bitten yet, but during the evening animation, someone was nibbling on my legs. It's no wonder I took the spray.
Good evening everyone! Could you please tell me if there are any pharmacies near the hotel? I don't want to carry sunscreen and other stuff with me. (We are taking a mini first aid kit anyway).
Hello! Yes, there is.
Hello everyone, could you tell me how the internet is in the hotel? (WiFi)
Great internet there
Is the cola served there original? In Cuba, for example, it tastes like Yuppi.
Local, as it seemed to me.
Do you have daiquiri?
They make different cocktails.
Luxurious, just hooked on daiquiris straight from the cube.
Well, there doesn't seem to be any Cuban rum there. And the cocktails are average - mediocre.
This is understandable, I'm just kind of used to daiquiri, and I had it in Venezuela.
Not scary
Do they serve sparkling champagne at the pool bar?
Yes
Hello guys, can you tell us how the all-inclusive dining works? We want to come with kids, so this question is relevant :)
Great cuisine,,,both mashed potatoes and fries,, the omelets are excellent, any porridge for children (oatmeal, etc.), soups and chicken, and seafood (but that was in June) I think nothing has changed now.
How does Wi-Fi work in a hotel?
Good job.
And in the room and on the beach?
We have it - yes)
I have a question)) It is stated that the pool with the bar is for adults only. Children are not allowed. What about the regular pool where children can go? What is its depth? And how far is it from the 18+ pool?
There are three pools nearby - a children's pool about waist-deep. Children are kicked out of the one near the bar. My child is 15 years old and they still got kicked out.
Are they being kicked out of the adult pool or from the territory of that pool? What's the point if they are still nearby 😅
From the pool where the bar is located. This seems to be the concept - to ensure that children do not swim and disturb those drinking and without kids. There are a lot of Europeans without children there, and they spend all day in the pool drinking and socializing.
At the main bar, children can buy cocktails. But swimming is not allowed. However, for me, this adult pool was a bit unpleasant (drunken men and women of various body types and hairiness). But the other pools seemed cleaner, even though there were many children in them. But overall, the pools are clean. Sun loungers are washed, pools are cleaned. Beach towels are fluffy.
Good afternoon! Please let me know who stayed at the hotel. With a late check-out, can you use all the all-inclusive perks after 12:00?
Bracelets are not taken off you anyway))) While we waited for the taxi for an hour, we casually walked around and had a snack at the snack bar. During the second arrival, we arrived at 10:00. They suggested we go for breakfast while our room was being prepared. We checked in around 11:00, with no additional payment, and they even upgraded our room category.
Is the hotel really completely "bald", is there shade anywhere?
Under the mushroom. Do you need a botanical garden?)
Yes, I would love to. To lie under the palms and look at the ocean 😻 I'm going to Sri Lanka for the first time, trying to find something good.
This is not the place for you. There are palm trees and sun loungers in front of the fence - and further is the beach, but all that is beyond the fence.
Good morning, we are thinking about this hotel, can you tell us how it is? What about the food (as some reviews say that seafood and variety are just advertising, as well as very poor lunch boxes)? What about the infrastructure (are there any shops nearby, etc.)? Is there a good local guide?
Well, the lunch box, yes. It's not great. But there's a snack bar open at night, so you can get something from there. The food is good, but if you're used to Michelin-starred restaurants, it won't appeal to you. They serve well. They offer unlimited drinks. There are some shops nearby, but I don't see much point in them. I only bought tea there. For local trips, I contacted Anu for short distances. And for two days, we took a private tour with a familiar guide.
Are the sun loungers on the hotel beach paid? There is no information about this in the description. What is the cost? Is everyone lying by the pool?
They are not there. Everything up to the fence refers to the hotel - everything is free.
As far as I understand, there are no sunbeds on the beach, they are all behind the fence.
Please tell me what the depth of the pools is? My husband read somewhere that the pools are shallow and everyone is splashing around like little frogs 🙈 and the water gets very warm...
Two children's pools- probably chest-deep for me, one where the adults' bar is- deeper. Good clean pools- in a word, more for relaxation than for sports swimming.
Hello, has anyone celebrated New Year at this hotel? How does New Year's Eve go?
We were there! A bunch of seafood, lobsters, and fireworks.
Could you please tell me if there were additional charges for the New Year's dinner or if it is included in the package?
Wasn't there!!
Hello everyone) Dear vacationers and those who have relaxed, could you please tell me if oysters are among the seafood served? We are choosing between the Riu and the Hurrican hotels and would like to compare.
There have been no oysters at all in the last 10 days.
Good afternoon! Am I correct in understanding that there is no swimming in the ocean at this hotel? And how is it there in December?
That's right! There is the open ocean and it is not calm all year round.
Are all drinks included here? Are there no items with additional charges like in many other hotels?
All-inclusive without restrictions
Is there any interesting wildlife on the hotel grounds to delight the children?))

Next to the pool, a monitor lizard lives, he is definitely the star of the hotel)) There are palm squirrels, very cheeky, one devoured an apple that my daughter carelessly left on the chaise lounge. A bunch of colorful crows, millipedes, dragonflies, beautiful butterflies.
Is the monitor lizard right next to the pool? Doesn't it scare you? 😅
No, the main thing is not to try to pet them) Once he ate something big, he could barely walk, and his kids were chasing him, poor thing, not letting him digest what he ate properly. In general, you need to be more careful with animals)
Could you please tell me if the Wi-Fi in the room is paid or free?
Free
How is the hotel beach? Is it swimmable? Why are lagoons needed?
No way - open ocean! Not for swimming, even lifeguards are not there, there are always red flags.
It's even impossible to enter the water there. Those who love to catch sand with their shorts go in up to their knees and wait for the waves.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get from Colombo Airport to the hotel? If it's a transfer from the tour operator?
Approximately 2 hours
thank you
We traveled for about three hours, couldn't pass each other on a narrow street and stood still for a long time. When you drive to the hotel, the road is tiring. On the way back, we quickly flew to the airport. Many take a transfer to the hotel, but then it’s necessary to inform the tour operator right at the airport.
Well, we are considering the individual transfer, but we are still in doubt.
If you are flying in the morning, then there may be no point. The hotel is really slow. We were only checked in at 16:30, even though we arrived at 15:30 (check-in from 14:00). One couple was only checked in by the evening. Another family mentioned that they were checked in earlier, as they were traveling individually.
Well, the plane is scheduled to arrive at 10:30. Then maybe there’s no point.
They might check us in, it depends on luck. I felt mentally easier on the bus than sitting in the hotel looking at the beauty and waiting to check in. The kids were really eager to swim. Fortunately, we were sent to the restaurant for a snack.
We arrived on a shared transfer (from Anex, but this is not our first time with the Riu chain and we are registered on the Riu network's website). Therefore, I checked into the hotel even before our arrival. And we were checked in right away. However, those who arrived with us had to wait. It seems they were asked to wait until 3 PM.
And could you tell me how you registered in advance?)
Download the riu app, through it you can

Can it be done without a booking code? It seems we don't have it... Thank you in advance for your response ☺️
Spend $50 – and you'll get to the hotel in 1.5 hours without any problems, and they will check you in quickly. We were sent to have lunch while they prepared the room.
Guys, is there any entertainment program in the evenings here? Disco/club?

Parties here are from 11 to 2, there is usually some show at 9, it's different every day.
Every evening?
Something ordinary like that, but there was also something in the style of Hollywood, then traditional dances. Yes, either live music or a show.
Until what time does the pool in Rio operate?
Either until 20 or until 19... I don't remember.
Can anyone tell me if there are surf schools or anything like that on the beach?
No, there are red flags standing all the time.
Hello, could you tell me if the ocean-view rooms have strong sound transmission? If someone has paid extra for them at the hotel, what is the cost?
Good evening. We initially purchased an ocean view room, the sound is quite noticeable, if the door is open, it feels like being by the ocean (in a good way), but it doesn’t interrupt sleep, when you close the door, it’s just sounds like from ASMR, super calming and distant.
I am more interested in evening events, do they interfere with sleep?
My husband and I don’t have any, I asked my parents, they don’t have any either. There are events there until 11 PM at most. But they don’t disturb, you close the door, there’s humidity from the ocean, but in the room, there’s an air conditioner and a ceiling fan.
Good afternoon!! Could you please tell me if I will need a snorkeling mask here?? (to take with me)
I find it unlikely that there are constant waves at the hotel's beach, except in the lagoon, but even there, there are waves now...
Good evening! Can you tell me if there is any infrastructure near the hotel (cafes, souvenir shops)?
No
There is almost nothing here.
Hello) There are no fancy restaurants nearby, but there are some cafes and a decent grocery store within walking distance. I only remember a tea shop for souvenirs. It's best to check the map)
How about the seafood at the hotel? 😁
Shrimp, squid, tuna, salmon, octopus, some large fish. Maybe there is something else. Crabs are never clean, various dishes with them.
A big fish is probably a mahi-mahi fish)))
No, mahi-mahi is served separately in pieces. And here they cut it piece by piece from the fish, it tastes different.
Oh, right... we were given the same one. Didn't look at the name...
They just write a review and that's it
Is there Wi-Fi in the rooms?
There is.
Fishing is not good everywhere in the rooms. It is good on the territory.
Good afternoon, could you please let me know about the alcohol policy in the hotel? Is it only local production or do foreign drinks also include, and which ones?
There is Bacardi rum. Wine and sparkling wine, it seems from Italy or France. Local and imported vodka.
Good morning! We are going in November, could you please advise if we need to bring mosquito repellent with us?
Good morning. We brought it, but didn't need it. The hotel is well fumigated against insects.
There are none here
Good evening everyone!) I have a couple of questions for those who have been to this hotel… 1. How far on foot, in which direction, and how much does it cost by tuk-tuk to the lagoon? 2. The same question about the turtle beach - how far and what is the tuk-tuk price (as I understood, it is in Hikkaduwa)? 3. What other beach do you recommend - tuk-tuk price and how long does it take to get there? 4. Can you get to Galle by tuk-tuk - price, how long does it take? Thank you ☺️ to anyone who responds)
To the lagoon - walk about 2 km to the left if we are facing the ocean. It takes about 25 minutes. We went to the park once. The tuk-tuk there costs 1 dollar and back (can be in rupees). We didn't negotiate with the turtles, round trip is 20 dollars, the ride takes about 20-25 minutes. I know that some negotiated down to 15 dollars.
Thank you ☺️
1. 500 rupees to the lagoon round trip. 2. 4500 rupees round trip - 30 minutes one way. 3. Hakivaduwa 4500 rupees round trip with waiting. 4. Taxi or tuk-tuk - 12000 rupees round trip with waiting.
Thank you very much ☺️

This is the lagoon nearby, but we didn't swim there, we swam in the ocean that is by the hotel.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the lagoon? If you are facing the ocean, which direction should you go?
They advised to go left, although there is also something on the right. By tuk-tuk for a dollar, it takes about 5-10 minutes to the nearest one. There are further options, surely you can find something better.
Good day! Could you please tell me if it is possible to swim in the ocean at the hotel? Is it worth going with children? I read that there are some bays nearby without waves.
The hotel has no swimming facilities - there is some bay, but you have to drive a bit to get there, and if there is a strong storm, you won't be able to swim there either. The impression is that swimming near the hotel is impossible - either you go to the pool or take a tuk-tuk to the beaches, but otherwise, it's a normal all-inclusive hotel! No more.
strong wave?
There is open ocean without any reefs – swimming is prohibited there. Red flags are always up.
maybe because of the season?
Always it's an open ocean!
Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed at the hotel. It’s definitely not suitable for small children. With older kids, they can play in the waves near the shore. We took a tuk-tuk to the bay, about a 10-minute ride, where the waves are smaller. We are here with kids aged 3, 9, and 16. I was worried about the ocean, but in the end, we are enjoying the pool and having a great time overall. We don't regret at all that we came here.
I have been to both Riu and Araliya, the first one is very good, the second one, maybe, a little worse during peak season. But in Unawatuna, you can leave the hotel and swim peacefully in the ocean, while in Riu, there is no such opportunity. Flying halfway around the world and swimming in seawater seems to me better than in a chemical pool.

It's the season))) February-March of this year)
Yes, swimming is just like that) we went a bit further, but the essence is the same)) You can't wear glasses, it's better to have joined swimsuits, and the swim trunks should be stronger 😂
Thank you all for the feedback. I'm a little put off by not being able to swim directly in the ocean, but I think this won't ruin the vacation.
We actually really liked being in the waves 👍 The main thing is not to go overboard 😁 Foreigners are all in the pool, only Russians go into the ocean. If you want to swim, it’s not a problem at all to go to the lagoon. Tuks are everywhere, it costs just a little to get to the lagoon.
We spent 6 days in Rio and then moved to Uno - in Araliya, which is no worse than the hotel, and we could swim there.
Good evening! Can you please tell me if it is possible to change the room at the reception here for $? If we purchased a room with a view of the grounds, can we pay to upgrade to a sea view?
Good evening. We were upgraded to a room with a view free of charge. Please inquire upon check-in, as they offer available rooms themselves.
Guys, who is currently at the hotel, please tell us a little bit about the food. Do you like it? Are there seafood? Fruits?
Arrived today, had dinner. The impression is very good. Seafood- two kinds of shrimp, octopus, it seems there was something else. Everything is very tasty! Plus fish: tuna tataki, several kinds grilled. Fruits: passion fruit, pineapples, papaya, guava, bananas, mandarins, watermelon.
👍Great, thank you! Fits 😊
Have a great day everyone! For those staying in a room with a side view of the ocean, how "side" is it really? Can you see the sea at all? Please share photos/videos 🙏

Good) we live on the 2nd floor, with a side view.

And this is by the ocean, it was very luxurious
Can children swim there? I'm in doubt where to book a vacation with a 5-year-old child?! They recommend Riu, but now I don't know either.
We were there in February-March of this year. My 13-year-old daughter swims quite well. BUT! She never went into the ocean... She said it was scary. There is a lagoon near the hotel (if facing the ocean, go to the left until the very end. I do not recommend walking with a child. It's better to take a tuk-tuk right at the gate to the beach and for 200 rupees round trip to swim in the calm ocean. The tuk-tuk driver will ask when to pick you up and will return for you at the appointed time. Payment with them is always strictly upon return to the hotel)

This is at the hotel)

This is in the lagoon
Good day! Please tell me, is there a practice in the hotel to pour drinks into thermos mugs? I really liked it in Cuba, not tied to the hotel bar, poured whatever I wanted in my own mug and enjoyed my vacation wherever I wanted.
Yes, they pour without any problems - I saw people walking with mugs.
Beer is poured into mugs, it's like in a pub, stronger drinks are not poured into mugs
Are the sockets in the hotel universal or should I think about bringing an adapter?
Universal. We didn't need an adapter.
Good afternoon. Are there any insects in the hotel, outside, and in the lagoon?
No, we didn't notice anyone during our stay at the hotel. Very classy hotel.
Hello, everyone. Is it possible to keep valuables in the safe? How is theft handled in this hotel?
We calmly left, I haven't heard about any theft.
And we all left everything in the safe - there were no problems.
Guys, hello everyone, is the beer only on tap or is there bottled beer available? And are the drinks in the minibar only non-alcoholic? Thank you for your answer 😊
There are non-alcoholic beverages in the mini bar. Beer was poured into glasses from cans.
Hello, please tell me, are there any shops behind the hotel? Any fruit stalls within walking distance?
Why? There seems to be... Our guides said, if we go out to the road and turn left, in about 5 minutes there will be a pretty big market, like our local grocery stores...
Hello everyone 👋. Please tell me, do the rooms have umbrellas, or should I bring my own?
No.
Hello, please tell me how things are going at the hotel right now? How is the food, alcohol, room availability, what's the weather like, is it raining, are there big waves? Thank you. If possible, photos or videos.

This is a lagoon.

This is from yesterday near the hotel.
Please tell me, is there no elevator to the upper floor in the hotel?

Lifts are located near the lobby and where the evening show took place (from what I know), on the side where the restaurant (breakfast/lunch/dinner) is located, I do not know, but probably there too.
Please tell me, in your opinion, which rooms are the best (we have paid for an ocean view). I mean in terms of floor level and the building as a whole. Thank you in advance! ☺️
We were initially given rooms overlooking the ocean and pool, but I switched to a garden view for more tranquility... but to each their own) We were on the 3rd floor... not too high (you can walk up and it's not too low))) The 3rd floor is perfect in my opinion) We had rooms overlooking the garden... quiet and peaceful) couldn't hear anything))) I enjoyed the ocean view from the pool)
Good afternoon. Can you tell me if there are adapters for our sockets in the hotel?
Hello! There are regular power sockets in the hotel, adapters are not needed.
What is the beach like at the hotel? Is it good?
Yes, the beach there is fine. If without children.
Can you please tell me if it's possible to swim at the hotel beach?? I am considering it not so much for drinking and eating, but the main criterion is the beach, not dealing with waves.
No, it is not for bathing.
Good morning! If someone is currently at the hotel or is about to arrive, how are the waves near the hotel? Could you send a video?)

Near the hotel, there are always waves. There is no calm ocean. It is not safe for little kids to swim, but adults enjoy jumping on the waves. It's even more interesting than peacefully swimming)) In the ocean, 99.9% are only Russians, all foreigners stay in the pool) We found the lagoon boring)
Is there a grocery store like a supermarket near the hotel to buy spices?

Supermarket in Balapitiya. It takes 5-7 minutes to get there by tuk-tuk.
We are going here in April. Should we not be afraid of mosquitoes in the sand?
If you are going to swim in the lagoon, there are no sunbeds, do not lie on towels, let alone on the sand. I lay down on a towel, and got bitten, now I'm treating it.
Hello, do you have photos of the lagoon? Can you send them to me? I want to understand if it's worth going there or not.

Here it is.
Can you please tell me how far is it from Rio to there? And are there any other beautiful and peaceful places for swimming?
It's only a 5-minute drive. She's just 2 km away if you walk along the beach. We walked there leisurely for 30 minutes.
Hello! Can you please tell me how bad the mosquitoes are in the hotel? Should I bring mosquito repellent with me?
Hello! There are no mosquitoes.
Hello! Can you please tell me if there is an exchange office at Hambantota airport and where to buy a local SIM card? Or maybe there are places like this near the hotel? How is the internet in the hotel?
Good morning! The internet at the hotel is very good. There is a currency exchange at the airport - the rate was 306 yesterday. We exchanged some money. You can buy a SIM card at the airport, but we didn't.
Hello, can you tell me if the hotel offers any local alcoholic beverages?
White Kalypso, an arak
Good evening, can you tell me about the situation with mosquitoes in the hotel, on the premises, and in the rooms? I've heard that dengue fever is rampant here.
At the hotel for 3 days. Out of six people, not a single bite.
There are no insects at all, maybe a couple of flies will fly by and that's it!
I look at photos/videos on the internet on the beach, people are calmly lying on the sand.. kids are playing. I've read so much about different fleas/flies, that it's scary to walk barefoot on the sand)) I will be arriving at this hotel soon.. for those who have already been there and for those who are there now.. have you encountered cases of bites from these creatures?

Hello) we are currently relaxing at Riu, calmly walking and lying on the sand, no problems have arisen.
What type of outlets are in the hotel?
Hello everyone. Can you have lunch at the beach in the hotel? Are there any seafood options available for an additional cost? If so, how much does it cost?
Most likely no, the beach there is public. This hotel doesn't have one, maybe the neighboring one does.
I was thinking that maybe the hotel has a cafe on the beach and they prepare food for an additional fee.
To the right, if you look at the ocean, there is a little restaurant within a 10-minute walk, but I don't know the prices.
We were there today, you can go for the view of the ocean, there is better food in Rio.
Hello vacationers! I have a question. What is the dress code at the Alacard restaurant? I heard that trousers and a long-sleeved shirt are required, but can a short-sleeved shirt be worn instead? Are shoes allowed to be sneakers or can they be sandals? Hotel Rio.
Usually, Riu hotels do not have a strict dress code. Both men and women are allowed to wear t-shirts, sandals, and men can also wear shorts.
Have a nice day everyone!!! Can you please tell me if the minibar in the room is complimentary?
Yes, it's free.
Hello. Can you please tell me if it is possible to stay on the hotel premises after checking out? My flight is in the late evening.
Can you please return the keys and let us know if the plane is late? We were still having lunch for free.
Have there been any cases of theft at the hotel? They say it's common in Sri Lanka. I need to bring my laptop for work, so now I'm unsure. Are there any safes available?
The hotel is excellent, there is no theft. I went to the beach several times and forgot to close the safe, but nothing was missing. The tablet was constantly lying on the bedside table.
Could you please tell me if there is a hairdryer and toothbrushes in the rooms?
There are no toothbrushes, but there is a small hairdryer.
Toothbrushes can be requested and they bring them all, and also a shaving set. It's free. And it should be so. But they bring it upon request.
Can you give me some information about smoking? They say it's prohibited on the hotel premises. Is this true?
No. Everyone smokes.
Hello everyone! Can you please tell me, for those who booked a hotel independently, not through a tour operator, how did you pay upon check-in? In cash? In dollars or rupees? Or is it possible to use UnionPay card?
We booked by ourselves and we must pay in cash dollars. Today, I wrote to the hotel asking about the acceptance of UnionPay cards and the possibility of paying with old dollars. I am waiting for a response. You can also clarify with them.
I received a response regarding the accommodation payment! The payment can be made upon arrival using a card (Visa/Master/Amex) or in cash, either in US dollars or LKR.
Could you please tell me if there are sea urchins at the hotel? Do I need to bring special slippers with me?
No. We have not met.
Question about the sockets: do they provide adapters or are there suitable sockets in the room?
We have a regular charger for iPhone. It fits perfectly.
Can you please tell me if there are mosquitoes in the hotel? Should I bring insect repellent?
We've been here for 2 days, there was no one before. But someone wrote that they occur. So it's better to take it.
Good evening, everyone! Why is nobody swimming??? Is it too cold or are the waves not allowing it?
The waves are wild in this hotel. I had my tourists there, they could only ride in the lagoon, as it is very dangerous here, it can sweep you away.
Can you tell me if there is a free bar in the room? Or is it only available on the premises?
There is a refrigerator with non-alcoholic drinks in the room. But I didn't even ask if it was paid or not, as we don't drink them.
Can you please tell me who is currently at the hotel and what food is available for lunch/dinner?
Don't worry, the food there is really good and varied. I've stayed in several hotels that were even more expensive than Rio, but the breakfast here is much better, and the lunches and dinners are also top-notch.
Good evening, could you please let me know if it will be possible for my 8-year-old child to swim near the shore at this hotel?
Good. To jump on the waves next to him by the hand. In my opinion, if you want to let the child swim freely, it should be a lagoon enclosed by a reef or a breakwater.
Is there red wine available at the hotel?
Yes, there is.
Are there designated smoking areas on the hotel grounds? Can you smoke by the pool, for example? On the beach?
You can smoke anywhere, unfortunately. However, most people understand that they are not alone here and try to move away at least.
Can you tell me if there are mosquitoes in the hotel?
There are no mosquitoes either on land or in the ocean.
Hello. Can you please tell me if there is a hairdryer in the room?
Yes, there is.
There is.
Can you please tell me if there are beach towels available at Riu hotels or should I bring my own?
Yes. They serve by the pool.
Can you please tell me if it is possible to swim in the ocean at the hotel beach?
There are no reefs or breakwaters near Rio, the ocean cannot be completely without waves..., but surfing on waves is awesome!
Hello. Can you please tell me if there is an iron in the rooms?
We don't have an iron.
Hello. Can you please tell me if there are monitors in the hotel?
Hello, we have been resting here for a week and have only caught a glimpse of a varan's tail in the bushes.
We saw someone, he was near the outdoor shower, before going to the beach. He was very cute, but the hotel staff immediately chased him away. They don't allow people to walk through the territory.
Apparently there are a lot of them there in general, since they even happen to be near this hotel? I mean, it seems like there is not much vegetation in Rio.
Does the reception staff speak English? How about Russian?
One girl speaks Russian to some extent.
Can you please tell me if the hotel requires any deposit upon check-in? Is there a tourist tax?
No
Can you give me some advice on how to eat deliciously?
Tasty.
Hello, we are arriving on Saturday. Can we swim near the hotel? I'm asking because everyone is talking about big waves.

Hello! Just went swimming with the child in an inflatable circle. We're also enjoying riding the waves. The beach is almost empty and beautiful😍 there are waves, but not too intense.
Can you tell me what kind of outlets are in the room? Do I need an adapter?
Adapter is not necessary.
Is there a dress code in the hotel restaurants?
The most important thing is not about swimsuits. They said that men should wear shirts or pants. But some people also walk in shorts.
Is there a gym in the hotel?
Good evening, yes there are. But there are minimal exercise machines available.
Hello. Can you please tell me where I can exchange dollars near the hotel?
At the hotel, they are renovating.
Are there any local loungers on the beach near the hotel?
There is no direct access to the beach, but there are lounge chairs on the sand, only up until the fence. And beyond the fence, there is a public beach with nothing there.
Hello. Is there a kids club in the hotel? Do they take care of children?
Good evening, we are currently here on vacation and I haven't seen a mini club. There is a small pool with slides.
Please, could you let me know what the sockets are like in the hotel?

The sockets are the same as in the photo.
Can you please tell me if there is WiFi in the rooms at the hotel?
Yes. Both in the rooms and throughout the hotel grounds. It even works on the beach.
Which beach is in this hotel?

We wade in waist-deep and jump on the waves like children))) It's great.
