I don't even know who is more tired of the hustle and bustle of the city in our family: the parents, constantly rushing to work, or the children, hurrying to school and extracurricular activities. One thing is clear: we all need a break away from the city. What should this place be like? One with beautiful beaches, delicious food, entertainment for both children and adults, and plenty of blue ocean. And where else can there be so much ocean, if not in the Maldives? The image galleries and prices get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on January 17, 2025.

This luxurious hotel, consisting of 115 villas, has been listed among the best in the Maldives by Condé Nast Traveller. It offers everything for the enjoyment of tourists: plenty of entertainment, restaurants, a spa, and, of course, separate services for families with children.
At Standart hotels, tourists are greeted not with the usual coconut cocktail, as in other places in the Maldives, but with coconut ice cream in a red spill-proof cup. It is said that children are thrilled with such a start to their vacation.
I am sure they will also like the decor of the bathrooms in the water villas, where a disco ball hangs and part of the floor is transparent. Our kids could definitely hang out here for a long time, watching the ocean splash right under the floor. By the way, the hotel has two-bedroom rooms, both over the water and on the beach.
However, we do not plan to stay in the hotel for long, but will go to explore the island. For children, there is not only a dedicated kids' club, but even a pool with a small beach. Yes, indeed, a beach intended only for kids! There is also a water play area near the beach with slides, climbing structures, and a trampoline, as well as a play area near the kids' club on land. The kids will be hard to pull away from there – it's just perfect!
And the cherry on top is the kids' menu in the restaurants, where little guests can choose dishes to their liking.
You can stay in a villa on the beach or on the water. You can choose a villa with one bedroom or two. One-bedroom villas are quite spacious – about 110 square meters, but two-bedroom villas are twice as large – 220 square meters! For our family, that's far too much!
The hotel is located on Raa Atoll island, a 35-minute seaplane flight from Male Airport.
My favorite among the six restaurants in this hotel is Guduguda, an authentic restaurant with Maldivian cuisine located over the water. You can also enjoy a barbecue at BBQ Shak or have a cocktail and dance at Beru Bar on the island.
The breakfast, praised by many tourists, is included in the price.
This is a true paradise for water sports enthusiasts and underwater panoramas. The hotel invites guests to try water skiing, wakeboarding, monoskiing, tubing, and kayaking. From May to November, guests are offered the opportunity to visit the Hanifaru Bay biosphere reserve and swim with mantas. I love watching underwater wonders, and this hotel has a whole coral breeding station to support the living nature of the Maldives.
Of course, there is also a spa center here, where parents can go while their children have fun in the kids' club, for example, painting coconuts and practicing children's yoga.
The close proximity of the water villas to each other is an inconvenience that bothers some tourists.
Guests were thrilled with the organization of their stay at the hotel – the staff performs everything clearly and efficiently. I liked that there is indeed a wide selection of activities for children here.

One of the most spacious hotels in the Maldives is located in Baa Atoll, next to Hanifaru Bay – a nature reserve known for its large population of mantas. The typical Maldivian overwater and beach villas are complemented here by another accommodation option – treehouses. Although calling them treehouses is not entirely accurate - they are luxurious villas at the treetop level.
The first thing that families with children will encounter in the hotel villas is toys on the pillows, thoughtfully prepared by the staff. After this, it will be hard for the children not to run with all their might to the kids' club, as exciting activities are surely waiting for them there. And they will be absolutely right, because every day there are new entertainments here: treasure hunts, pizza making, crafts from natural materials, of which there are plenty on the island, and much more.
A treehouse is something that many children dream of, isn't it? And parents dream of comfortable rooms during their vacation. The creators of this hotel decided to combine these two desires and built villas above the treetops, which are perfect for family holidays. They have an area of 250 square meters, featuring two bedrooms and even a pool from which you can watch wild birds land on the tops of coconut palms.
Above the lagoon, you will find even more impressive family options. For example, villas with an area of 350 square meters, two bedrooms, a pool, and direct ocean access right from the terrace.
The hotel offers various dining plans, ranging from breakfasts to "All Inclusive." A breakfast infused with sea breeze seems like the best thing I could ever dream of! It is worth noting that every meal here can become an experience. For children, the pizzeria located on the white sand will be a discovery, where the oven operates right under the open sky, and around the kitchen stand bar stools. Be careful, don't get burned, the pizza is straight from the oven!
Guests particularly highlight the Japanese restaurant Feeling Koi - a recipient of many culinary awards. It is located on an outstanding pier, and here even parents of restless children can enjoy a calm dinner! After all, you can watch the fish swimming in the water right next to the restaurant.
Diving and snorkeling are the main attractions that draw tourists here. You can look at the wonderful reef with colorful fish and enjoy the view of mantas - specially for this, the hotel has an instructor and all the necessary equipment. In addition, there are facilities for other sports: parasailing, water skiing, windsurfing, and more.
And what would a resort be without a spa? Here, there are 10 treatment rooms-cottages, equipped with a sauna and steam room. There is also a nearby tea lounge and a place for yoga classes.
There is no awning over the terraces of the water villas, so it is not very comfortable to be here in particularly hot and sunny weather. Perhaps the hotel should consider installing umbrellas.
Beautiful underwater world at the reef near the hotel, plenty of water activities. Tourists also really enjoy the restaurants on the hotel grounds.

From a bird's eye view, this place looks even more exotic than the other Maldives islands: a long sandy reef extends from the area where the hotel is located and the green forest grows. This is a UNESCO biosphere reserve and at the same time the Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives hotel.
In the children's club under the canopy, little feet can sink into the white sand and engage in creative activities. The hotel offers a variety of entertainment for children: drawing, cooking, and workshops. For mini-travelers, there is a playground on land and in the pool, with slides to dive into the water headfirst!
The largest family villa on the island bears the proud name Rock Star. It is located at the very end of the wooden path that runs along the island, making it quiet and quite intimate. But just look at how much space there is inside! Almost 500 square meters of luxurious bold design with bright accents and an endless view of the sea. Can I just stay on this sofa in the living room and enjoy the ocean view forever?
The Rock Star villa is not the only option for families. Those who have as many family members as we do (I'm sure there are those with even more!) will appreciate the two-bedroom villas. Here, children can safely have pillow fights while adults continue to dwell in the land of Morpheus, having stayed up late watching the stars. The villa features two bedrooms and a private pool (although who swims in it when there is the sea?). You can choose a villa on the beach or in the lagoon. Unlike the Rock Star, they have a softer and more restrained design and are located closer to the resort center.
Japanese cuisine at the Kanusan restaurant is complemented by magnificent views that open up almost 360 degrees! It presents a terrace over the water, surrounded by the ocean. We continue our culinary journey and head to the Arabian Grill, where the blend of spices and sea air will make anyone lose their mind! Some tables are located on the beach, which means children can run around and even play in the sand while their parents finish dinner. The rustic charm of the Maldives can be experienced at the Crab Shack with its palm leaf roof.
The hotel divides water sports into motorized and non-motorized. Just to bring some order to the endless assortment of activities that one can enjoy in the water. Jet ski, water skiing, speed boat, tubing, and bananas, and such exotic options as X-Jet-Blade and e-foiling. The last two look and sound cool; I would love to try those incredible things!
At the hotel, you can engage in fitness and tennis with a coach, as well as go diving in search of exotic fish and mantas.
In the spa center, there is a wide range of services for beauty and health. And those who book in advance are promised a discount.
Tourists found it too difficult to agree on the drawbacks of the hotel; I didn't find any significant reasons for this.
Spacious villas that are perfect for family vacations. A nice beach and a diving center, as well as a wide variety of other water activities.

The straw triangular roofs of this hotel are visible even when approaching Lankafushi. What draws the most attention are those that do not have a wooden path to the island, unlike the others. Just little houses, hanging over the endless ocean, can be reached by boat. So, if you wanted to be as close to nature as possible, this is exactly the opportunity. By the way, in terms of nature, the hotel excels: it pays great attention to its conservation.
The children's club introduces Maldivian culture and the surrounding environment. The activities use coconuts, palm leaves, and other materials provided by nature. Additionally, children will learn interesting facts in a playful manner with a marine biologist.
The whole family can go on an underwater treasure hunt, and also organize a food search in the ocean, as if stranded on a deserted island. I'm sure children will remember such an adventure for a long time.
The Private Reserve is an incredible villa that maybe only the boldest tourists would dare to stay in (unfortunately, I do not belong to such, although my husband does). This villa has everything to make you not want to come down to earth: spacious terraces, a panoramic pool, a water slide leading into the ocean, a gym, a spa pavilion, a cinema, and a bar. The villa comes with a private boat that can take you to the hotel’s amenities. Similar villas, but slightly smaller – Crusoe Residence – are located nearby, some of which face the island, while others face the sunset.
There are also less exotic accommodation options. For example, a very spacious family villa with a large pool or the Gili Lagoon villa.
The colorful popsicles offered to guests are made right on the island from fresh fruits. Most of them are grown right here – the hotel has an organic garden. As a result, you can taste the delicious smoothies and simply tasty assortments at the beach fruit bar. In addition, there are three restaurants, an underground wine cellar, and a chocolate cave. Pure gastronomic temptations!
SPA, Ayurveda, yoga classes right on the ocean shore, and a spacious fitness club – all of this will allow you to relax your mind and body when the pace of life has become too fast. The hotel offers opportunities for water sports, including surfing and diving. Excursions will be interesting for children. We have agreed with our eldest son to try kayaking; there will definitely be opportunities for that here.
Guests complained about the high prices and that drinks are not included in the cost of the meal plans.
Many felt absolute tranquility on this island, there is an amazing relaxed atmosphere and attentive service. The lagoon next to the hotel is very lively, there is much to see.

This is probably the largest resort by area in the Maldives. As part of The Residence Maldives complex, this hotel is connected to the neighboring island by a bridge. I have not seen similar solutions in any other hotel. This is convenient also because you can use the infrastructure of two hotels at once, and it also provides an extra space for walks.
Children, are you ready for new adventures at the club in the Maldives? Ours are always ready, and here they will find a sea of creativity and fun. To explore the island, excursions and walks are organized for children of different ages with specially trained educators. Next to the kids' club, there is a playground where outdoor activities are held every day: kids' yoga, table tennis, learning the Divehi language, workshops, and quests. Older children are taught snorkeling and kayaking.
Two-bedroom villas are available both on the water and on land. I would choose a villa on land for those whose children are still small. I also prefer to enter the water from the beach.
There are three restaurants in the hotel. In The Dining Room, you can enjoy dishes of Asian, Indian, and international cuisine with an ocean view, and some tables are located on the beach. In Falhumaa, built over the reef, you can try divine seafood and grilled dishes.
The Clarins Spa Center – the only one in all the Maldives – awaits you to escape from the hustle and bustle and experience true tranquility. Tourists who have been here recommend going for a massage.
The guests were not thrilled with the breakfasts included in the price of one of the hotel's dining plans.
The picturesque path connecting the two resort islands allows guests to enjoy the amenities of both. A good reef near the hotel and a beautiful beach will make the vacation unforgettable.

The biosphere reserve where the hotel is located is a place where you will feel a connection with nature. From afar, the island looks like a lush green spot in the bright blue ocean. A paradise, no less!
I am sure that children will be breathless at the sight of the water villas with blue water slides, from where they can splash directly into the ocean. These are the Retreat villas with one or two bedrooms. However, to stay here, both children need to be very good swimmers.
Children are welcomed at The Den club, where an exciting program of activities for different ages is available daily. In addition to it, you will find a cooking school, an open-air cinema, a library, a glassblowing studio (sounds cool!), and an observatory. Our kids love everything related to space, so stargazing is a must on our agenda. Where else but in the Maldives can we enjoy such views?
Besides the Retreat villa, there are other equally convenient solutions for families on the island. For example, the two-story Crusoe villa with two bedrooms and a pool, located on the beach. It will be fun to watch the kids splash and have a good time here, and it is also extremely relaxing. For those whose family is truly large, there are similar villas with three and four bedrooms.
What do a zipline and dinner have in common? Perhaps incredible experiences, and this hotel has decided to multiply them by two by combining these two pleasures. At the Flying Sauces restaurant, you can ride a zipline and have dinner with a view of the treetops. I think this will be interesting for both children and adults.
Want more culinary adventures? Then you can head to the Out of the Blue restaurant, whose picturesque terrace extends far into the ocean and impresses with its views.
This magnificence is completed by So Wild – a vegetarian restaurant where dishes made from what is grown on the island are served.
Guests can enjoy tennis and padel tennis in the shade of the island forest. On the water, you can engage in surfing and snorkeling or e-foiling. The spa center is located in charming little cottages surrounded by lush jungles.
The rooms designed in eco-style did not appeal to all travelers. Many desired a more modern decor and additional lighting.
They say the restaurants in this hotel are excellent! Guests were thrilled by the unusual culinary discoveries. There are interesting experiences planned for children that will stay with them for a long time.

This hotel is located on the South Ari Atoll, which boasts a rich underwater world. I fell in love with its beautiful snowy white villas, which perfectly harmonize with the beach.
Children aged 4 to 9 can access the kids' club. Various activities are available here every day, and the schedule can be checked in advance to understand how to plan your child's day. Moreover, depending on the weather, the schedule may change, and when there are clouds in the sky, more activities under cover become available.
For those who have already surpassed the age of 9 and are not as interested in children's activities, there is the E Zone game area for teenagers.
If your family has very young travelers who are not yet ready to swim in the large pool, the hotel provides a small pool where they can splash and play to their heart's content.
Among the rooms, there is a family villa on the water, which our younger travelers will surely love, especially the children's room. It features a bunk bed, which we don't have at home to avoid creating extra space to climb into. But when you're on vacation – anything goes!
Dining in the local restaurants is not only delicious but also beautiful. Just look at the ocean views from the terraces of the Italian Mare Azzurro or the international Reef! And the Thai Suan Bua, shaded by palm trees, looks like a cool oasis in the hot Maldivian sun.
Several different dining plans are available at the resort: Half Board, Full Board, All Inclusive, and Grand All Inclusive. I love when we can tailor the dining options to meet our family's needs!
What can help you relax better than a SPA with ocean views? I think only specially designed SPA suites, like in this hotel. Here you can enjoy various types of massages, cosmetic or wellness treatments. Close to the SPA center, there is a gym where you can do yoga.
The hotel restaurants are extremely popular or too small for the number of visitors – many guests have complained that they could not book a table at the desired establishment.
Tourists are thrilled with the diving near the hotel; it has an excellent private reef.
