Traveling to India has been my long-time dream. Of course, it is a rather specific country, but ever since my university days (I studied the culture and religion of Asian countries), I have been very drawn to Hinduism and everything related to it. My husband and I planned this trip for a long time, as we intended to spend a whole three months in India.
Unfortunately, not all plans were meant to come true. The other day, my husband caught some kind of fever, and we had to urgently look for a trusted clinic. To be honest, getting sick in India is my biggest fear. Fortunately, we are currently in the city of Chennai; there is an excellent hospital - Apollo Hospitals. Sadly, it turned out to be much more serious than we expected, so we will have to stay in the city and visit the clinic daily for 10 days (my husband was prescribed infusions).
Now I am looking for a good hotel near Apollo Hospitals, so I don't waste much time on the road. I choose carefully, and so far I have identified 5 most suitable options. Today I want to share more details about them, as this selection might help someone else, and my efforts will not be in vain. The image galleries and prices get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on February 07, 2025.

The complete opposite of the previous hotel is the five-star Taj Coromandel. It is located 900 meters from the clinic, but this distance is still acceptable for us. And what service it has here! Finally, we can relax and trust the hotel staff completely. By the way, they say it's the best hotel in the city!
The hotel is located in the city center, a 12-minute walk from the clinic. You just need to cross the large avenue Uthamar Gandhi Rd and turn onto Wallace Garden 2nd St. To be honest, the road is not pleasant; it's the city center, so there is very busy traffic, many people, scooters, tuk-tuks, and cars. Although we are already used to India, this will not disturb us.
By the way, there is a good children's hospital Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital near the hotel, just in case you might need it.
Wow! This is a real five-star hotel in the center of Chennai! It has a luxurious pool, a gym, as many as 5 restaurants on the premises, and even a spa. After a month of living in small guesthouses, this hotel feels like a real paradise to me. Many tourists, judging by the reviews, choose this place mainly because of its proximity to Apollo Hospitals. Overall, the location is very convenient - right in the city center.
The rooms here are very comfortable, with some offering a great view of the city. There are many categories, but I liked the "Premium" room the most. It's not too expensive, but very cozy. I must note that the hotel also has various suites, club rooms, and even a huge signature suite with an area of over 200 sq.m. Besides free and very cool breakfasts, the hotel has 5 restaurants. I think we won't have to go anywhere else in the city. It's great that you can order food to your room.
There are certainly drawbacks, but I repeat, for India, this hotel is true luxury!
Radisson Blu Hotel Chennai City Centre

- 1.1 km

- Massage / Beauty Centre
- Free Wi-Fi

Another five-star option is a hotel from the well-known Radisson chain. It is slightly inferior to the previous one in comfort, but is still considered a very good choice in Chennai. Personally, I like the location, although it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the hospital, as well as the spacious rooms and bathrooms.
The hotel is located in the city center, on the riverbank and just a two-minute walk from the Government Museum Chennai. Apollo Hospitals is 1 km away, and we will take about 15 minutes to get there. However, I would like to note that the route to the hospital will be quite comfortable and scenic: you need to cross to the other side of the river via the bridge and proceed straight along Grims Road until the turn onto Grims Lane. It will be convenient to walk here, as there are wide sidewalks along the entire road. Of course, there is also a public transport stop near the hotel, but public transport in India is a very specific and unpredictable phenomenon!
In the reviews, the staff and their desire to make a good impression are praised the most (this, by the way, is typical for all Indians in general). I really liked the rooms - they seem so spacious and even quite stylish. For example, in the deluxe double room that I chose for my husband and me, there is a huge bed, space for work and relaxation, as well as a spacious bathroom with a large mirror and a new shower cabin. Honestly, I'm even surprised that all the furniture in the hotel is in such good condition.
In addition, the hotel has a gym and a beauty salon. Breakfast here offers more Indian dishes than European ones; this doesn't quite suit me since Indian food is very specific (spicy and with so many spices!).
Also, reviews often mention that the hotel is always very full, so the lobby is constantly crowded with people, and we might not find a place at breakfast and will have to wait. In our case, this is not very convenient.
The Belstead
- Distance from city center:
- 0.5 km
- Bar / Lounge
- Free Wi-Fi
- WiFi
- Garden
- Air Conditioned
- Restaurant
- Refrigerator
The three-star hotel The Belstead, located 1 km from the hospital, caught my eye for a reason. In the photographs, it looks quite fresh, and the rooms even have a slight hint of design. And the price, of course, is more than pleasant.
The hotel is located on Haddous Road; this worries me a bit, as it is a very busy street and always so noisy! You can walk to the clinic in 14 minutes at a leisurely pace, and the walk will be quite pleasant. Although the route is rather winding, most of it goes through quiet streets, amidst lush green trees and beautiful houses.
Near the hotel, there are several restaurants (halal, vegetarian, Jain) and shops, and Chennai Corporation Park is a 5-minute walk away, where I plan to take a stroll in my free time.
The hotel looks quite good in the photos; the rooms are nicely decorated, the furniture looks new, and the bathrooms are spacious enough. Inside, I saw a refrigerator and a kettle, which is also a huge plus. Despite several categories, the rooms are very similar to each other (even in terms of size); the only one that is different is the large family room, but a standard room will be enough for us. Unfortunately, I was a bit upset to read that cockroaches have been noticed in the rooms a couple of times; I am very afraid of insects (yes, I consciously went to India!), so I want to feel safe in the hotel at least.
The breakfasts at the hotel are filling, though not very diverse, while the Wi-Fi speed leaves much to be desired.
The biggest disadvantage for me is the very poor sound insulation; since a busy road runs next to the hotel and there are several bars nearby, it is quite noisy inside.
Park Avenue Hotel Nungambakkam
- Distance from city center:
- 0.8 km
- Free Wi-Fi
- WiFi
- Restaurant
- Air Conditioned
- Mini Bar
- Free Parking
- Parking
A little more than a kilometer separates Apollo Hospitals and this three-star hotel. The reviews are average, but I must consider this option as my choices are limited. Besides, judging by the photos, the hotel meets our requirements quite well, but let's take a closer look at it.
This hotel is located not far from the previous option, so the way to the hospital is almost the same (you will just have to walk a couple of minutes longer). It's in the city center, so the hotel looks quite decent from the outside. It stands at the intersection of major streets, and it is always noisy and crowded here. Fortunately, to get to the clinic, you don't need to cross the road; in India, crosswalks are a very questionable phenomenon, so I try to avoid large and busy roads.
There are shops, small cafes, and restaurants nearby. The reviews recommend having lunch at Zaitoon Signature, located across from the hotel; they say the food is very tasty, clean, and inexpensive!
At first glance, the hotel is not bad. The rooms here are, of course, very small, but they are clean. The only thing I don't like is the hot water issues. I understand that this is a widespread problem in India, but I certainly want to avoid it.
The hotel offers breakfast, which is a plus. It's said to be delicious and hearty. The lobby, as well as the bathrooms, look quite attractive, although many believe that the hotel needs a cosmetic renovation.
Everything seems fine, but I found a review where a girl mentioned that she saw a lizard in her room! I'm afraid in such a situation I would need a hospital, not my husband...
In such a difficult situation, I don't want to take any risks, so I chose the best hotel from the selection - the five-star Taj Coromandel. It is close to the clinic, and we will be able to easily walk there for daily procedures. We will spend these 10 days in comfort and tranquility, enjoying good service and delicious breakfasts!

This is the most budget-friendly and closest option to the hospital. And while the cost of accommodation doesn't worry me much, the distance from the hospital is the main criterion. Overall, the hotel is not bad; it has only two stars, but the star rating of hotels in India is very subjective, so you can even disregard that. The reviews for the hotel are surprisingly good, which is why I included it in my list.
The hotel is located 250 meters from Apollo Hospitals, and naturally, this would be very convenient for us. You can reach the hospital literally in 2-3 minutes. By the way, there are numerous restaurants and cafes around the hotel; my husband and I stopped by FiLLi Cafe yesterday after our doctor's appointment, and we plan to have lunch there every day! I highly recommend this place to you as well.
I would also like to note that the hotel is situated on a quiet street, so no noise will disturb us from getting a good night's sleep.
This is a very small but pleasant hotel in the city center. I really liked its territory; it's great that there is a garden and a courtyard where you can have breakfast. I also want to note that this hotel is truly a safe place; they take care of cleanliness, and only hotel guests can enter the premises. Reviews praise the hotel owner and his staff highly.
Personally, I was also attracted to the hotel breakfasts. In the reviews, I read that they are very filling and tasty. For India, this is, to be honest, quite rare.
As for the building and the rooms, they are certainly not new, but they look quite acceptable. I liked the studio room with a kitchenette, as I try to eat less in cafes and cook more on my own.
Finding some downsides in this hotel is not difficult. For example, the old furniture and flooring are in need of updating, and the plumbing in some places has rusted. But for such a low price, this hotel is simply a find.
