Recently, I was diagnosed with a condition, and my treating doctor advised me to visit the Erlangen University Hospital, which is located in the city of Erlangen, Germany. This hospital employs advanced research methods in the field of the brain, and I need to visit it for a consultation before surgery.
I plan to stay in the hospital for a week, so I need to find a nearby hotel to avoid wasting too much time on the road. I do not need luxurious accommodations; a good and clean room will suffice. I have considered ten options and am now selecting the most suitable one. The image galleries and prices get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on February 07, 2025.

I appreciated this hotel right away! Its territory resembles a country house, and the windows offer a wonderful view. The atmosphere here is so vacation-like, and I wanted to see all of this with my own eyes.
You can walk to the hospital in 9 minutes, which suits me just fine. By taxi, you can get there in just 2 minutes, but I think I’ll save that option for bad health or unforeseen circumstances, for example, if I oversleep or just want to sleep longer.
There is another hospital nearby – HNO-Klinik des Uni-Klinikums Erlangen, the Siemens Healthineers MedMuseum, where you can learn about the history of medical technology from the earliest times to the present day. Also, there is Bolenplatz Park, where I would love to take a walk after the examinations.
I liked that the rooms have a kitchen. The decor is simple, but cozy, in light colors. The floor-to-ceiling windows let in a lot of light, creating a great atmosphere in the room!
I was especially pleased that the room is very warm. I often get cold, and I will be very comfortable in such a place. According to reviews, the hotel itself is cozy and quiet. They say the breakfasts here are delicious, and I like their variety.
The price of the room starts at 100 dollars per night, and this price suits me perfectly.
One of the drawbacks I would note is the lack of a hood. This means that cooking smells will linger in the room, which I would prefer to avoid. Also, I really dislike when my clothes smell of food.
I read that guests complained about internet issues: Wi-Fi often disconnected, and in the room near the elevator, the signal was almost non-existent.
It is also worth noting the lack of sound insulation from the street. Sometimes at night, you can hear people walking around the area.

And this hotel is located in the historic center of the city, among beautiful buildings. It has a charming inner courtyard, and the building itself is quite small. Well, it is also located near a hospital and many attractions, which I will describe a little later.
I was also satisfied with the price: from 90 dollars per night. Therefore, it will take its place in the selection.
This location also has a very convenient proximity to the hospital: just a 9-minute walk or a 5-minute drive, and again there is no need to use public transport! Convenient.
Also nearby are the Margrave’s Palace and the palace garden. This building, located in the Market Square, was built in 1700 and once served as the residence of the Margraves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Today, the palace houses the University of Erlangen. I would very much like to see the fountain that was built in the early 18th century. It is said to be one of the most beloved spots for both locals and tourists. And how wonderful that all of this is so close!
I really liked the spacious rooms, which was surprising considering the size of the building. There are also small single rooms with twin beds, which seemed quite narrow to me. However, the rooms are light, although modestly furnished.
The breakfast here is simply wonderful: judging by the photographs and reviews, it is plentiful and tasty. However, there are some drawbacks. For example, it is said that the floors in the rooms are not cleaned often, so they may have dirt and dust. Also, the small and narrow beds for one person, and the sound insulation is not very good either.

I found a wonderful place, in the courtyard of which there is an area with tables where you can sit in the fresh air, and around it is a well-kept lawn.
The neighborhood is quiet, there are many dental clinics nearby, a university, and the picturesque Langemarckplatz street. I think that you can spend time here in peace and tranquility.
The price per night suits me - from 60 dollars.
The road to the hospital will take a little longer than from the previous locations — 14 minutes. However, there is no need to use public transport, and you can get there by taxi in just 5 minutes.
I was especially pleased to find that there are dental clinics nearby. I was just planning to get a tooth cleaning and replace a filling, but I couldn’t make an appointment at my clinic back home. What a lucky coincidence!
Seeing the building, I thought it was not a hotel, but a hospital — it looks so much like a medical facility. The exterior is quite strict, just like the rooms themselves — simple, but with everything necessary.
According to reviews, there is a pleasant atmosphere and cleanliness inside. I was especially pleased with the shower amenities from the Rituals brand that were in the room, as well as the balcony overlooking the hotel grounds. I love it when you can open the window or balcony to let in fresh air in the morning and ventilate the room before sleeping.
Some say that the breakfast is of average quality, and the beds may sag. However, I have seen many reviews where guests choose this hotel again and again. I think this is a good indicator that they are happy to welcome guests here.

This hotel is one of my favorites in terms of design and appearance. It is located in the center of the Old Town, in a picturesque and quiet area. I also chose it because of its convenient location near the railway station.
I hope that my good health will allow me to visit the neighboring city of Nuremberg, which is just 20 minutes away from Erlangen. The city has captivated me with its beauty and numerous historic buildings; it looks cozy when I look at photos of the place.
So, I think this hotel is perfect for all my plans.
The hospital is just a 15-minute walk away, and I am completely satisfied with this location. By taxi, the ride will take 4 minutes. I will reach a wonderful area that is so pleasant to stroll through.
I was amazed at how many interesting places are around: the Erlangen Art Museum, the Fifty-Fifty Theater, the Hugenotten Church, the Kunstpalais Erlangen art gallery, and the Museum of Prehistory and Early History of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Since I will finish my examinations quite early, I won’t have to worry about having nothing to do.
I was delighted with the design of the rooms. There are beautiful paintings hanging here, and the rooms are so spacious and bright. They have double beds, and chairs, which particularly pleased me, as I love to spend time not just lying down. There are even live flowers in the rooms — this care is very much to my liking. I simply adore such little details that leave a pleasant note about the place.
The fireplace in the lobby particularly impressed me. You can comfortably settle down with a book, which I usually take with me. Of course, if it’s not too noisy.
Reviews are mostly positive. Many praise the cleanliness, the size of the rooms, attention to detail, and the kind attitude of the staff. However, some guests weren't lucky and faced inconveniences: in the bathroom, it was impossible to open the window, the water in the shower alternated between scalding hot and icy cold, with low pressure, and the light switches worked strangely.

This hotel also made it to my list, which has such a cozy area with a lawn, trees, and tables where you can relax outdoors. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a minimalist style, I immediately feel the atmosphere of comfort. And that's exactly what I need during this trip!
You can reach the hospital by public transport or on foot, the time will be the same — about 16 minutes. I think I would choose the suitable option depending on my well-being or mood. I found quite a few suitable routes: you can take buses 299, 286, 205, 287, 290, as well as 253 and 205. The stop is within 5-8 minutes on foot, and I think it won't be hard to find. You can also take a taxi, which will get me there in 5 minutes.
I was also pleased to find beautiful parks nearby, where I will definitely go for a walk. For example, Verweilplatz Güterhallenstraße park, which is less than 200 meters from the hotel, and the grounds of the Loewenichsches Palais, which is even closer — only 84 meters away. After the walk, I would stop by the waffle shop Coffini and the bakery Bock to buy fresh pastries.
This place somewhat reminds me of a guesthouse. Maybe it's because of its territory and appearance. Or perhaps this building used to be a guesthouse?
I like that there is a lot of space and fresh air here. There is a large green courtyard, the rooms have balconies, and the rooms themselves are spacious. Guests also mention this in their reviews. They also write about comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast.
The rooms are simply furnished, but in a good way—without unnecessary details, stylishly.
Among the downsides, I would note the absence of automatic locks on the doors. This means that to ensure safety, one has to close the door manually. I am also concerned about the weak internet signal: some guests did not have connection with their relatives from late evening until the next morning.
For me, closing the door is not difficult, but if the internet signal is weak, I will not be able to contact my loved ones, and they are already worried about my health. This situation is not very convenient for me.

This hotel reminds me of a cozy country house: warm, family-like, surrounded by greenery. I also liked the area: there is a sauna and a covered terrace for relaxation. In this place, you feel like you're on vacation.
You can walk to the hospital in 20 minutes or take bus number 299 in 18 minutes. Of course, there are other routes as well, so there are plenty of options, and you won't have to wait long for the right one. The bus stop is very close, just a couple of steps away. And the fastest way to get to the hospital is by taxi in 7 minutes.
I like that the hotel is located in the city center. Everything is within walking distance: shops, theaters, museums, the Old Town, and the train station. I think there won't be a shortage of interesting places. I would love to visit the popular gardens: Botanischer Garten, Schlossgarten, and Aromagarten.
The area where the hotel is located really appealed to me. Despite being in the city center, it is away from the noisy streets, which is simply perfect for me.
On the roof, there is a covered greenhouse with tables, which offers a wonderful view of the city with its cozy rooftops and green treetops. On sunny days, it will be just lovely here, and in the evening, you can relax from the hospital routine and socialize with other residents.
The rooms are simple, but decorated with wooden elements, which creates a very warm atmosphere. I particularly liked the sauna in terms of decor. I am advised not to spend too much time there, but I would gladly go there for at least half an hour with breaks.
Overall, the reviews are mostly positive, and I did not find any significant drawbacks that could upset me.

I liked this hotel for its clean and bright rooms, as well as the magnificent breakfast that other guests praised so much. I decided that this option must definitely be on my list.
I can get to the hospital in 20 minutes on foot. If I take the bus, the journey will take about 17-20 minutes. There are five routes going in the same direction, so I can take any of them. And if I use a taxi, I'll be there in 7 minutes.
The hotel is located near the Burgberg area, where you can visit many interesting places. For example, the restaurants Lê & Vi Asian Street Kitchen, Wiehgartner's Backeria, and Bella Mia. There are also many shops in the area: Einkaufszentrum Neuer Markt, Galeria Kaufhof Erlangen, and Erlangen Arcaden. These are great places to spend time after all the examinations and to buy gifts for loved ones.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the city center, within walking distance of many restaurants. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds.
According to guest reviews, the breakfast was simply fantastic: a wide selection of dishes and friendly, attentive staff. The surroundings are very quiet, and the coffee machine at the reception is a great addition.
In some rooms, there is neither a sofa nor an armchair, just a small but functional table. It is said that the air conditioning worked perfectly. I liked that the hotel is overall well-kept and clean.

In a quiet and peaceful area, near Skateboard Park Omega Erlangen, a church, and a school, I found another good option for accommodation. I think living here will be quite comfortable.
The hotel is a bit further from the hospital than the previous one. If you walk, it will take 32 minutes. By public transport, you can get there in 20–25 minutes. And the fastest way is by taxi, the ride will take only 9 minutes.
Near Art-Hotel Erlangen, there will be all the famous attractions that I mentioned earlier: theaters, parks, and other interesting places. Also, there is Jordan Apotheke pharmacy just 200 meters away. Convenient if I need to get any prescriptions.
The rooms are designed in a simple, but charming style. The hotel is conveniently located for bus connections and is situated in a quiet area.
Many guests note that the beds here are comfortable, which is certainly important for my good sleep. It is also pleasant that the breakfast consists of a good variety of dishes, and there is a restaurant nearby where you can try the local cuisine. According to reviews, the staff is always polite and ready to assist in any situation.
The hotel has rooms with windows overlooking a busy street, but they do not have air conditioning. At night, it is impossible to ventilate the room due to the noise of cars. I don't like it when there is no such possibility.

Although this hotel is the farthest from the hospital, I liked it for its rooms, grounds, and, according to reviews, delicious breakfasts. That's why I decided to add it to my list.
I wouldn't walk from the hotel to the hospital, as it would take an hour and a half. It's better to take the bus, which takes 40 minutes, or a taxi - 13 minutes. You can rent a bike and get there in 24 minutes. That's also an option.
The building is located next to Pzhévalsky Park and the Tennenloer Forst Nature Reserve, where wild Przewalski's horses live. Guided tours are held here in warm weather. I would really like to go there. Judging by the map, there are many parks and trees around the hotel, which I also really like.
The hotel leaves a pleasant impression: it is cozy, with friendly staff. The rooms are bright and clean, spacious, with large soft beds. The bathroom is tidy, with no dirt.
Guests were especially pleased with the breakfast: it was very fresh, varied, and delicious. I also liked that there is a small machine in the room for making tea and coffee.
However, some guests noted the absence of a refrigerator, microwave, and kettle. It is also not advisable to choose a room on the first floor, as the windows face the entrance and it can be noisy in the evening.

I really liked the location: the building is very close to the hospital and the botanical garden. I had never been to this German city before and wanted to visit its museums to learn more about its history. By the way, there is a municipal museum nearby dedicated to the history of Erlangen.
This three-star hotel offers rooms at a price of 140 dollars per night.
This hotel is closest to the hospital, and I am very satisfied with this location! You can walk there in just 6 minutes or take a taxi in 5. I won't need to use public transportation, which makes things much easier.
In addition, I like that it is located in the city center. After all, there are usually everything you need: shops, pharmacies, cultural places. For example, the Markgrafen and Erlangen theaters are nearby.
I like that this hotel is located in the Old Town. The building seems so beautiful and cozy. They say the area it is in is quite peaceful. I also found a lovely courtyard with a terrace where you can relax or read a book after the hospital on a sunny day.
The rooms are certainly not the most luxurious, but according to reviews, they are clean, and there is a friendly staff. That's exactly what I was looking for. They serve a complimentary breakfast in a buffet format with fresh fruits, nuts, meats, and cheese. Guests praise the food very highly.
The only thing that bothers me is the lack of an elevator. It will be inconvenient to carry heavy luggage. But judging by the picture of the building, there are only three floors.
