One of my husband's company branches is located in Vienna, so we often come to the city for a few days. We prefer to stay in hotels, and I am always responsible for the selection. I particularly like options that offer some kind of view, for example, of the old town, the Danube, or the numerous parks of Vienna. Places with a view of St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Vienna State Opera, or a panoramic view of the entire city are especially noteworthy (unfortunately, there are very few of them).
Over the past couple of years, I have identified the 5 best hotels with views in Vienna for us, so I try to stay in them. Of course, if something new opens up, I go on a reconnaissance mission, but I always recommend this top five to my friends and acquaintances. The image galleries and prices get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on February 07, 2025.

I adore this ancient hotel in the very center of the old town. It opened back in 1892, can you imagine? There is such a wonderful atmosphere everywhere, and the view of the Vienna Opera only enhances it. This option is especially good in winter, during the Christmas holidays, but you can also spend a great time here in the summer.
I love hotels with history much more than my husband, but even he was thrilled with the view of the Vienna State Opera. We always book a Twin Room with Opera View with a balcony; it offers a really cool view (especially in the evening when the lighting turns on!). Actually, there are many rooms with a view of the opera: from standard to royal suite. The remaining rooms offer a view of the nearby street, which is also quite nice.
The hotel, as I already mentioned, is located in the historic center of Vienna, just a few steps away from all the main attractions. It's a great option for those visiting the city for the first time. It's also nice that there are public transport stops and the Karlsplatz metro station nearby, although they are unlikely to be needed, as all the interesting buildings are within walking distance.
As for pleasant neighbors — the Hawaiian cuisine restaurant Apapika Bowls is right next to the hotel, I recommend it!
This is an ancient hotel, and the rooms look like real royal bedrooms. By the way, the rooms are quite spacious; they gift a bottle of champagne and desserts upon check-in. There are also surprises for children. The staff is very attentive, I've already remembered many of them and feel at home!
I must note the traditionally wonderful and diverse breakfasts: omelet/sunny-side up/benedict, a large selection of fruits, vegetables, freshly squeezed juices, etc. The restaurant is very classy, every time the food gets tastier and tastier! By the way, there is the first American bar Brisol in Vienna at the hotel, where you can order themed cocktails dedicated to opera, music, and wine. Very interesting! There are afternoon hours with free tea/coffee and pastries.
The drawbacks are mostly related to the age of the building. After all, it is very old, so there are minor issues with hot water supply and plumbing. Some feel that the rooms need updating, while I, on the contrary, like everything very much. During the Christmas holidays, you simply cannot find a better hotel in Vienna!
Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere - a concept by Hyatt

Next in line is a beautiful hotel overlooking the Belvedere Palace complex and the Swiss Garden park. Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere - a concept by Hyatt, I love for its excellent spa complex and location away from the noisy center. Plus, the rooms here are cool with panoramic windows, staying in which is a pleasure! Well, let's go through everything in order.
A very cool view opens from most rooms in this hotel. We have stayed here three times, and each time the view was more and more picturesque. I'll let you in on a secret - from the rooms on the upper floors, you can even see the mountains on the horizon! My favorite option is the suite with a park view. Huge panoramic windows offer a view of Belvedere, numerous gardens and parks of Vienna, and the magnificent panorama of the mountains. Even cooler views can be enjoyed from the penthouses and executive suites, but they are too large and expensive; we haven't stayed in them yet.
In the summer, there is a bar with a terrace on the roof; it’s so great to settle into a comfortable chair and order a delicious cocktail while enjoying the view of your favorite city.
I want to draw your attention to the fact that the hotel also has some unfortunate rooms; for example, with a view of the railway and station. You need to book a room very carefully.
Some may be unsettled by the location, but for me, it is one of my favorites. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the historical center and main attractions, and if desired, you can quickly get there by taxi. But right next to the hotel, there is a huge park and the Belvedere garden with the palace. Strolling through the cozy streets of this area, you can visit the Military Museum or Karlsplatz with the Catholic Cathedral from 1737. It's such a beautiful place; you can't even imagine! Right across is a very cool modern museum, Belvedere 21; I haven't been there yet, but I plan to. Another plus is the proximity to the train station. We often arrive by train, so for me, it's also a time saver.
My husband is delighted with this hotel; he really loves modern and innovative spaces. And I am also not against such a high level of comfort. Moreover, I really like the stylish rooms, which are more like cozy apartments with designer furniture and interesting details in the interior! The perfect cleanliness in the bathroom and the perfect service catch the eye; the staff are very nice and always try to help.
The spa complex deserves special praise! For some reason, it's very difficult to find a good spa in Vienna, but here, real professionals work.
Breakfasts are excellent: very tasty and diverse, but the sparkling wine that was previously offered for free has recently become paid (20 euros per glass!). It's somewhat unpleasant.
The hotel has private parking, which is also a huge plus, and a stunning rooftop terrace (but only in the summer).
Hotel Topazz & Lamée

I liked this hotel because of its unusual exterior. I've never seen such windows before. By the way, this is not the only building; there is another wing here - it looks more standard. But the main thing is that from some rooms and the rooftop bar, there is a view of St. Stephen's Cathedral. For such a view, I am ready to live even in a tourist center!
A very nice view of the Vienna rooftops and St. Stephen's Cathedral opens up from the suite with a terrace. Perhaps other rooms also have a view, but we stayed in the suite, and I really liked it! It's cool that the terrace is very spacious; there are even comfy chairs for relaxation.
The hotel has two buildings: Lamée and Topazz. These wonderful round windows are located in Lamée, however, the view from them is not very picturesque (after all, they are quite small). Meanwhile, the upper floors have really cool rooms with panoramic windows. For example, the Signature Suite Lamee - this is literally the best observation deck in the city. What a view—Stephansplatz and the cathedral are right before you!
But still, the best option to enjoy the view is to book a table at the rooftop bar. It's a pity the terrace is only open in the summer.
The very center of the city! This is both a downside and an upside. Of course, there are always a lot of tourists here, so the streets are noisy and bustling. Moreover, cars pass right under the windows, which adds to the noise. But all the main attractions are just a few steps away: St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Anker Clock, Wien Museum Römermuseum, the Plague Column, and much more.
I am personally very pleased with the brand new BILLA supermarket right across from the hotel and the Wrenkh Wiener Kochsalon restaurant around the corner with a lot of delicious vegan dishes.
Just a 5-minute walk away, near the cathedral, is the Stephansplatz subway station. From there, you can reach any point in the city. It's very convenient!
I'll be honest, despite the unusual appearance and central location, I am unlikely to return to this hotel. It is more suitable for those who have come to Vienna for the first time and want to focus on the attractions. Since it is much more important for me to avoid noise and tourist hustle, I would prefer another option further away from the cathedral. However, this place is very good, although it is a bit more expensive than others.
I liked the rooms in the Lamée building, the beautiful view from our room's terrace, and the excellent service (we were gifted a bottle of expensive wine upon check-in!).
It is disappointing that the private parking is a 10-minute walk away, and some rooms, according to reviews, are outdated and require cosmetic repairs.
Intercontinental Vienna, An IHG Hotel

The last one in my selection is Intercontinental Vienna, An IHG Hotel with a view of the city park of Vienna. Of course, it is not the newest and most modern, but the service here is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the view of the city is simply spectacular. Also, I really like the location; staying here, I go for a run in the city park every morning!
This hotel has two options for the view from the room: the city or the park. I recommend booking a room with a park view; we have stayed in such a suite twice and were very satisfied.
In fact, besides the park, you can also see a large part of the historic center from the window, which makes the view even more picturesque. And in the distance, on a clear day, you can even see the mountains. Although this depends on which floor you choose your room on. But I will say right away – the higher, the more beautiful!
Vienna's city park is a beautiful place! I especially enjoy watching the Wien River, which flows right through the middle of the park.
Location — this is the biggest advantage of the hotel. It suits me very well: there is a park nearby for walking and jogging, the Stadtpark subway station, and you can literally reach the city center and main attractions in just 7-10 minutes.
In winter, there is a large outdoor ice rink right by the hotel, and my favorite Greek restaurant To Ellinikon is a 2-minute walk away.
It is a great pleasure to stay here in warm weather. In the summer, I went for a run in the park every day and enjoyed the peace and beauty of the city!
The hotel has its own advantages and disadvantages. I won't say that it is perfect, as the rooms are indeed outdated, and their interior is nothing surprising. Even the building looks a bit dull. Moreover, I found neither a coffee machine, nor a kettle, nor a mini-bar in the room.
However, the staff here are simply wonderful, who quickly solved all my problems. I will also mention the delicious breakfasts and the decent restaurant. And the rooms, despite their less than fresh appearance, are still very spacious, which is quite rare for Vienna. And of course, I must highlight the fabulous location, the view from the window, the good spa and gym, the availability of covered parking, and the beautiful hotel lobby. Honestly, the cost of accommodation is more than pleasant! In my opinion, this option has an ideal price-quality ratio.

I'll start with one of my favorites - So/ Vienna with an unreal panoramic view of the entire city! The hotel is certainly not cheap, but it's worth every penny. I choose it over and over again because of the first-class service and very cozy designer rooms. However, the local spa leaves much to be desired, so I can't give this place the highest rating.
The biggest bonus of this hotel is the fantastic view of the city. And if the restaurant on the top floor offers a panoramic view of all of Vienna, then I can choose the view from my room to my liking. My favorites are the rooms with views of the Danube Canal and St. Stephen's Cathedral, but those with views of the Ferris wheel in the city park and the News Media Tower are equally impressive. Some rooms have panoramic windows, so you can admire the view even without getting out of bed. I prefer to choose a higher floor; I like the panoramic view. However, if you want to see the city in more detail or see the Danube Canal in all its glory, rooms on the 5th or 6th floors will do just fine.
A must-do in this hotel is to have dinner at the Das LOFT restaurant with glass walls on the 19th floor. Evening Vienna is such a beauty!
The hotel is located on the banks of the Danube Canal in the Leopoldstadt district. Essentially, it is separated from the historic center and the so-called first district only by the canal, so the location is no less central. You can reach the main attractions in the center in a 20-minute leisurely walk. And if it happens to be very cold outside, you can use the metro: the Schwedenplatz station is a 5-minute walk away (you just need to cross to the other side of the canal).
By the way, there are a huge number of bars, restaurants, and cafes along the canal promenade. It's so much fun that a couple of times my husband and I arranged real tours of the local bars and nightclubs. A personal recommendation from a lover of Mexican cuisine and tequila (my husband) - the Taquería La Ventana restaurant near the hotel. It really is very tasty!
If briefly, the hotel is really luxurious! It is located in a great place, not far from the center, but there is significantly less tourist hustle here. We often arrive before check-in time, and there are never any problems with that. We are either checked in right away or offered to wait a bit in the lobby with a cup of coffee. Perfect service!
The rooms are great, I especially love the bathrooms; they are very cozy and most often have a panoramic window (I love it when there is a window!). Cleaning is done daily, there is a coffee machine and capsules, which comes in handy in the morning. Water and juices are also included in the price.
I also want to highlight the great breakfasts with a view of the city: delicious and very beautiful! It’s a bit disappointing that it’s very difficult to get into the rooftop restaurant, as it is open not only for hotel guests. You need to book a table well in advance, but sometimes that’s not possible, and we have to look for another place in the city.
Of course, the hotel has some minor drawbacks (a pointless small spa and very expensive parking), but overall, it is an excellent accommodation option in Vienna.
